The Reluctant Hero (Harry Jones)

I hope to God that parliament is better protected than tis novel portrays. Having held hostage to the opening of parliament, the only occasion when the Monarch is present during which security must be at an all time high. We then get invaded by a US task force, a meddlemaniac home secretary (possibly believable),throw in our heroes' messy love life and the main plot (parliament held captive), searches aimlessly for something to suggest that the story has a direction or is remotely believable. Not Dobsons best work

This was the second Harry Jones story I've read. I found it hard to put down! A cracking yarn that had me desperate to turn the next page. I would highly recommend it.

I have read many of Michael Dobbs books over the years, some I have enjoyed (Last Man to Die), others not so. I guess part of the problem is that you are unsure what you are going to get-Political thriller, historical tale or a just good old fashioned man v the rest of the world action story. Here, Harry Jones is a man on a mission, helping an old friend out of a bit of a mess. Full of twists and turns, this won't tax the brain but you get one heck of a ride. Enjoy!

Hard to put down and the reader felt all the pain and discomfort of the main characters, Harry, Martha and Zac

Brilliant follows in the masters footsteps

A really good story. There are twists and turns with an inevitable result. The denouement is not the easiest to follow and needs to be read at least twice.
