Excellent printer, small footprint and easy to setup
I bought this printer to replace my Canon Pixma and I'm very happy with it. It doesn't take up much space and looks good too.The setup was easy. I was sceptical about this having read the reviews but I had no issues whatsoever. You just follow the step by step guide in the HP Smart app. It asks you to press a couple of buttons during the process and conveniently these flash for you to indicate which button to press. The power cord is a little bit on the short side. It measures 140 cms from plug to connector, not allowing for any flex. Depending upon where your plug is located you may need to buy a slightly longer one.The print quality is great and the scan/copy function works very well and is really useful. It's far better than my old printer. This was 5 years old though, so I suspect technology has improved in that time.Printing/scanning from my phone works a treat and is handy. It seems to have a fair few other features as well that I'm unlikely to use, so can't really comment on these. It is possible to use non-HP cartridges - I think. If you wish to do this you mustn't enable HP+ during the app setup. When you accept this free service a code is sent to the printer which locks it to genuine HP cartridges only. You don't have to opt into this though if you don't want to. I think by not agreeing to this you will lose some/all of the smart functionality, which kind of defeats the object.Genuine HP cartridges are circa £18 for a twin pack which is cheaper than I previously paid.I opted to sign up for the instant ink service as I thought it was reasonable at circa £5 per month. They take away the hassle of ever running out of ink and it covers shipping/recycling too. You get 3 months free out of the box and if you use the code 'nfhzgw' during setup you get another month free. You can also cancel the instant ink service at anytime or change the plan, which is good. I'm going to give it a try given it's free for 4 months and decide whether to stick with, or not, then.Overall it's a great little printer that does everything you'd expect. Very pleased with the purchase.Update: After a couple of months use it's still working great, no issues whatsoever with connectivity and print quality. The ink has been delivered in a timely fashion too.Within the HP Smart App there is a section called 'Printables' which is really useful. Maybe not to all but certainly to some. You can download templates for Wall Planners, Calendars, Kids activities, Cards, Crafts etc. All free. You just pick the template you want and then tap print from your phone. The photocopy option is also proving to be very useful and is a great feature.

Outstanding Printer
Replacement, my old HP450e printer was having printing problems (I think the print head had gone) which was disappointing as it was only 4 years old and only used once or twice a month and the warranty had expired a month before the problem arose. This one is an upgrade to the old one, it's more compact and the control panel is easier to see and use. The paper is also easier to insert and it holds more paper (100 sheets). The only problem I had was getting it to connect to the computer to print, I tried everything I knew, I spent several hours over 2 days but all attempts to print failed. Eventually, I contacted HP directly, followed the instructions given to me and was printing within 15 minutes!!! Wish I had contacted them straight away. Printing is very fast in black or colour and the quality of both printout and printer is great - I highly recommend this compact printer. (I also hope that it lasts longer than the old one as it will be used very little, as I said above, I only print things about once or twice a month).

Impressed. Set up in 10 min and free ink Use code rhvkv7 for extra 3 months, valid till April 2024.
--If you want extra 3 free extra month of fee ink here is my referral code rhvkv7 which is valid until April 2024--I was very hesitant before buying this printer- there were mixed reviews and the price was too good to be true with free ink for 6 months. But I went aheadSet up of printer-set up was super easy with my phone took me no longer than 10 min.Printer inkPrinter comes with ink one black and white and one colour. I installed them and have to say they get used to pretty quickly. But they only cost about £12 each so £24 in total.Free ink hp +Subscribed for free 6 months ink I took the 500 pages plan not because I need it but because it's free anyway :D had a code which gave me an extra 3 months free so now I have 9 months of ink. You can use my code above for an extra 3 months or free ink for you :) Although initially did not like the idea of subscription when I need to pay I will downgrade to 99 p or £2.99 plan depending on usage. I only normally need it for the Amazon return, and the then and now page I need to print for something else. Printing quality is ok and even photos are ok considering.I would say that the hp plan is probably cheaper as the cheaper plan would be £12 a year for 10 pages a month that can roll over for up to 3 months, and the second one up is £2.99 a month with 50 pages a month that can roll over for 3 months. £36 a year ink isnt bad I think.Bear in mind that they send ink in 7 to 10 business days , so I used the free ink and subscribed straight away until I get the new ink. You have 7 days to subscribe to hp instank ink so you can wait a few days to make sure you use your ink as subscription starts on day to subscribe despite hp sending you the ink after 10 days.Hp appSuper easy to use, shows cartridge left, subscription, you can print etc. Really like it.Size of printerThe only thing I wish was that it was slightly smaller - it's not the biggest printer but I believe a few cm larger than the average printer due to the print tray at the bottom that does not close. The only reason I downgraded a star.Colour and sound -It lights up and makes a sound/ noise when it prints- some reviews complained about it I really like it :) but then again the printer is not in my bedroom.Hope you like this printer- as much as I do and this review was helpful :)
