Excellent cooking-history
However, being a professional, I am a museum curator at a historical museum, I find this book both informative and inspiering and it's been truly helpful in my creating of both exhibitions and lectures at the museum but I'm sure this book with it's many beautiful illustrations and exciting recepies will be a hit for any person interested in cooking/food history!

Very well-researched and interesting!
I bought this book because I was researching cooking and diet in Georgian England. It has been extremely helpful and also very interesting! Paston-Williams obviously has a passion for historical cooking and it shows in her writing. She includes recipes and information about historical trends, as well as many details of daily life that really give you a sense of what it might be like to be an aristocrat in historical England. Unfortunately, this book doesn't say much about the diet of the lower and middle classes, as Paston-Williams admits. It does include an abundance of color photographs and period illustrations. It's factual, detailed, and fun to read!
