I've been using for over 20 years, and the areas I apply to are: face, throat, chest, breasts, inside of lower arm, behind the knee, palms of hands, soles of feet. If applied to blood vessel areas, it absorbs very quickly into the blood stream. It doesn't absorb very well when applied to fatty areas (like thighs, belly, etc). It's really important to rotate your sites ... the receptor sites for progesterone will get exhausted if you keep applying in the same spot (then it doesn't work as well). It's also important to take off (1) week of each month. Dr. Lee says you need to let the body rest. If you're still getting your period, take off the week of your period.
