Must Read for All: Historians to Engineers, Doctors to Administrators, Students to Senior Citizens
Enjoyable reading of history. Very readable and easy to understand, covers all aspects of Indian history. What was happening elsewhere in the world gives better perspective, what happened when is beautiful summarisation. The suggestions to visit monuments and museum and further reading and watching films adds further.

Good introduction to history but not impartial.
The book has very good informations but the vibe of the book is not impartial. Many things are there in book that are debunked long ago. The author should provide us an information with out his or her ideological or polical shadow casting, especially in the part of indian freedom struggle and medival india. Thought it would provide correct unbiased info which NCERT doesn't. But its a disappointment.

A must read for all the ages
Don't get fooled by the title. You (people who think they are adults) might be needing this more. If you reside here or have interest in India history, this book gives an excellent broad look into it. Replete with some anecdotes and Did You Knows, it makes for a very engaging read. A book which will be enjoyed by a 10 and a 100 year old alike. NOTE: I did spot few factual errors in the book. I hope the publishers will correct them in the next re-print/edition. Eg.: As far as I know, the central hall chamber in which the speech 'tryst with destiny' was delivered is still that very central hall even now and that has not become the Lok Sabha. The chamber for Lok Sabha was always different.

A book, which is the first step to love history
This one is one of the best books of Indian history which is narrated and written in best way..It has great illustrations and the way of language is so easy to understand. I did found this book in the library 3 years back and read it at that time.I was in 5th standard, and read it wholly. I didn't had any idea about history and got great knowledge until in 6th I got History as part of my subject. But after sometime I forgot about this library book, when I was in 7th, I remembered only its author's name "Subhadra Sen Gupta " I wanted this book again...and so I got my dad booked it again for my great interest over it. Now I have it...and it helps me a ton in my homework when I would not be able to read the lengthy chapters of my ncert textbook.

This book covers history of India right from ancient to post independence. Written in a very lucid language and serves the purpose of introductory text on Indian history very well, not only for children but also for readers of all ages.

Highly Recommended for 10+ age group
I purchased both version of this book : first print edition for my daughter and then kindle edition for myself . The book is definitely very well organised , informative and interesting . I completed it cover to cover so that makes me eligible to comment on it . I definitely recommend it to all children as well as adults . The only flaw i saw at some pages that author making decisions that some parties are bad and some other parties are good in freedom struggle . I feel that duty of a professional history teacher is to present facts to a child in very detailed and interesting way but he should avoid taking sides as kid can make his ideology by listening to his teacher . I seriously believe that this mistake is purely unintentional and accidental . Otherwise ! A very interesting book !

Concise captivating course on History
My 9 year old 4th grader loved it and wouldn't stop reading until she almost finished it. In between, she was describing stories .. eg the amazing and inspiring story of "Sultan" Razia. She has become a History Buff now! So much is covered, could say beginning to end, and narrated in a very interesting manner, with illustrations. Would totally recommend.
