Reputable brand and tastes good
This is great. I bought it for my kids to make sure they were getting nutrient rich food on top of their picky toddler diets. Since we got it a week ago, they’ve been asking for their daily “choc-at milk”. It tastes good and even when they’re only drinking an 8oz cup, I still feel like they’re getting adequate nutrients. I’ve been taking the beef liver supplement from ancestral for years. It makes me feel so good. So I have been trying to figure out a way to get my kids the same nutrients not encapsulated. This has been a great alternative with more beef organs offered.

Ancient Gains with a Modern Sweet Tooth
I’ve tried a lot of protein powders over the years—some tasted like drywall, others like sadness—but Ancestral Supplements Grass Fed Protein? This stuff is built different. The blend of grass-fed beef protein, mushrooms, and chocolate isn’t just clean—it’s elegant. No sketchy fillers, no weird aftertastes, just solid, nutrient-rich fuel. I mix it with heavy cream or butter, and it gives me a clean energy boost that feels more grounded than jittery. Now, about the sweetness: it’s definitely on the enthusiastic side. Not unpleasant—just more like dessert-level sweet than your typical post-workout chug. I wouldn’t mind it toned down a notch, especially when I’m trying to feel like a warrior monk and not someone sneaking spoonfuls of frosting. Still, it’s one of the cleanest, most thoughtfully made proteins I’ve found, and my body feels great when I use it. Sweetness aside, it’s a big win for the ingredient-conscious, grass-fed, fat-friendly crowd.

Taste not bad, but doesn’t mix well
Edited: ***Just adding an update. I found 2 more uses for this powder since it doesn’t blend well. I make chocolate pudding and “fudgesicles” out of it for my kids. They are delicious!! I used 2 cans full fat coconut milk, 10 whole medjool dates, and 3 scoops of this protein powder. I had enough to pour into 8 popsicles molds (silicone mold also from Amazon) and I refrigerated the rest into small jars for pudding. I love this company and I take their supplements regularly, so I was excited to try this! Unfortunately though, what everyone says about this powder is true. It doesn’t mix well AT ALL. It clumps up and gets weird. That being said, it doesn’t taste horrible. It has that monkfruit flavor… but not bad. The best way to consume this (IMO) is either in a smoothie, or mix with coffee using a handheld milk frother. That did the trick for me.

THE BEST!
My FAVORITE EVER protein shake. It’s full of healthy and clean ingredients! I’m a crunchy mom & this is a great choice! It tastes so yummy, my 18 month old even loves to steal sips from me. Great value for your money and health!! Gives me the energy I need to start my day! It can be a little clumpy & bubbly when it mixes sometimes but I figured out if I use it with my battery powered mixer & then use the vacuum seal feature it gets all the air bubbles out & the texture is perfect. I always mix with raw milk & 1/2 of a banana & it tastes just like a banana chocolate shake! I used it with water once and won’t ever do that again lol, definitely use milk!!

Indrinkably sweet
Undrinkably sweet! The ingredients sound appealing in terms of quality and nutrition but the vanilla flavor has way too much monk fruit sweetener. I tried adding unflavored beef protein powder and also unflavored whey powder to tone it down but it is still awful. It's a lot of $$ for something that has so much sweetener in it. Monk fruit may not affect your blood sugar, but there is no need to overdue the level of sweetness. I would have been better off with beef organ capsules, unflavored powder and a separate mushroom powder. I have now added chickory root to tone it down. Also, it doesn't dissolve easily, is sticky and forms lumps so it's a lot of work if you are on the road and don't have a blender. The chickory has a nice flavor, but I had to also add some cocoa powder and cinnamon & nutmeg so now it is drinkable.

Best
I love the taste of the powder. It taste like a caramel mocha latte to me. My husband, husband, and I both like it a lot. This is by far my favorite protein! I have only been using it for one week and I feel full in the morning and have energy after drinking it. It is not thick. It is thin to me. I do use a froth to blend it.

Great product, but very potent
This is a great protein powder. It tastes good but is a little difficult to mix in even with hot water and a handheld frother (doesn’t dissolve that easily). It mixes better in a smoothie. The mushrooms caused a diuretic effect on me and was in the bathroom every 30 minutes to an hour. When eaten with more solids, there is less of a diuretic effect. It eventually caused diarrhea, and after I stopped using the protein, that got better. Everyone’s body will react differently. I recommend starting with a half scoop and working your way up to 1 scoop. I love Ancestral Supplements and I use a lot of their supplements. I’m a bit bummed that I can no longer use this product (and past the return window of an unopened bag). I would say it’s a little pricier than most protein products, but the content benefits make it worth the price.
