Sony BDPSX910 Sony Portable Blu-ray Player (Old Model)

I am very impressed with this portable Blu-ray player, especially since I purchased it when it was still $199. The picture is very clear and the color is great with newer Blu-ray discs. I have the unit set at half brightness and that is all I need. The volume is pretty good, but I think it could be better. If you are going to use this DVD player in the car, it might not be very loud unless you are using a headphone or earbuds. That being said, the unit only has one headphone jack, so only one person can enjoy the movie with quality sound in a louder-than-being-at-home environment. That being said, the sound quality with good earbuds is great. I actually heard something in a movie I had never heard before even though I have seen the movie a number of times. Two headphone jacks and wifi would have made this unit close to perfect. What I am most impressed about is the battery and that it basically lives up to its specs ... which I find rare with electronics. Sony says the battery will last up to four and a half hours. Also, the unit does not get hot on your lap. Right off the charger I was able to get four hours and 25 minutes at half brightness (10). I wish it were a bit easier to check the battery besides shutting off the movie to see, but at least there is a flashing light on the unit to alert the viewer that the battery is about 20 minutes from dying. During my test, the light started flashing at four hours and five minutes. I played a non-Blu-ray DVD and the picture and sound is good. I played a music CD and the volume seemed louder than with a movie. It sounded very good. I tried inserting a flash drive, but the unit said the drive was not supported. The only thing I can think of is that the drive contained more than just pictures, videos or music. Perhaps later I will delete a flash drive that I don't use and just add some pics, music and video to see if it works. Hopefully this Blu-ray player lasts a really long time because it is a great unit for the price and included features. If you are looking for a detailed review this is not it! This portable player is GREAT! The picture is sharp and clear! It is easy to use and lays totally flat-which means it can be watched from any position-any where. Has been used by a 10 year old to watch movies on while large TV is in use--really loves it! Controls are easy to use and headphones can be plugged in easily so viewer can watch with others in the room. Charges easily and runs for a long period of time. Can play blu-ray DVD's as well as others. Love Sony products! Am using a DVD/VHS player that is a Sony--have had it for over 10 years and it is still going strong. Also have a Bravia Sony HDTV and Love it! So this player is being added to our household--I do not know how long this player will last but have had others that lasted only 2 years or less. I am hoping this one will last longer. Our players get a lot of travel time use too. When we go on car trips the portable players go a long. I use them to run exercise CDs in the motel room so my exercising continues. Plus they get used during car travel by our son and in the motel room if he wants to watch a favorite movie. So far this player has been GREAT!

We bought this player for our trip to Mexico. It was well worth it! It is reasonably priced and highly portable. The HDMI port is regular size, not mini. It held a charge on the plane and when we got to our hotel we could easily plug it into the TV in our room and watch movies on the big TV. The clarity and sound is great. The screen size is small, but a decent size for a portable player. We were excited to see there price come down in these players since all of our movies are now Blu Ray. Well worth it if you are traveling and want a portable player!

I bought this portable Blu-ray DVD player because of the Blu-ray capability (to replace my other one that was not Blu-ray). I love both players, and this new one works great. I took off one star because of the short AC cord (the electric plug). It's only 38 inches long, so you aren't going to use this player unless you (1) charge it ahead of time and run it off the battery, (2) have an outlet very close to you, or (3) use the included 12v cord. I honestly think Sony believes that since this is a portable unit, people are going to use the battery and/or 12v plug. That may be so for most people, but there are enough complaints about the short AC cord in the reviews that Sony should have done something about it by now. After all, this is NOT a cheap unit. Without going into greater detail, some of us need to use the AC power cord. I do love the 12v cord, though, as well as the remote control. I also love the player and highly recommend it, but Sony needs to upgrade the cord. My older player's AC cord is twice as long.

As a family that does a lot of car traveling, this product has been a god-send. The screen turns all the way around so it can sit safely on the center console but face backwards for the kids to watch. The sound level is strong and clear via the built-in speaker but it's best to play through car speakers. Also, when your driving is done, you simply plug into the hotel TV's HDMI port to watch more if desired and the remote comes in handy for that. The screen resolution doesn't strike me as amazing but it means you can buy Blue-ray discs for your home system and still play them on the road if you want. (When not traveling, we connect it to the TV in the guest bedroom for added convenience ... always nice to have an alternative space in case the parents want to use the bigger screen for themselves!)

It is a great player usually! My daughter loves it for our long car rides we have often! Lately it has been locking up and not wanting to play so I would maybe recommend looking around for a different player. It shouldn't go that quickly. I havent even had the player a year! I will be looking for a different one once we have our second little one!

This is awesome...plays beautifully and the picture quality is supreme. I use it in my vehicle and it works great even when being bumped around while driving. I definitely recommend this product to everyone who's looking for an awesome bluray/did player.

一口にブルーレイディスクを再生出来るとあるが、同じ商品でも日本仕様と海外仕様では取扱いが違います。 商品には、ちゃんと海外仕様と表記して下さい。 日本製で録画したブルーレイが再生不能ですから。 メーカーも対応に苦慮しているとのことです。 どのような仕様かを提示して売り出して欲しいです。

並行輸入品なので国内販売のDVDソフト及び一部のBDーRが再生できないので、ソニーに問い合わせをしたところ、輸入品なのでわからないので直接アメリカソニーに問い合わせてくれと言われた。

This player has a good screen and the sound is great for that kind of system. It's nice to listen to movie when on the go. However, the battery life is on the short side, so having a power source near is a must if you want to watch more than one movie. I recommend this product!
