wallace and gromit
The three adventures on the dvd are entertaining A Grand Day out is comical with Wallace running out of his cheese supply he decides to build a rocket to go to the moon believing that the moon is made from cheese poor gromit is trailed along with him and once the rocket is built the 2 blast off into space on landing on the moon the "cheese" sampling begins but unknown to them they are being watched by a strange little machine which I am still not sure of what it is like a cross between a washing machine and a cooker anyhow wallace had put a coin into it and this prompted the little contraption to wake up so when it sees that wallace has been cheese tasting it decides to seek revenge just as it is about to strike it money runs out and it conks out so he puts another coin in before he and gromit move on once he has his collected supply they decide to return home but just as they are making their way back the little machine awakes again and having realised they are going back to earth it decides it wants to go too as having recalled earlier the little machine loves to ski so it decides to chase after them but wallace gets scared and thinks it is wanting the cheese back and forgetting to light the wick of the rocket they start to panic but the little machine is busy trying to find a way in an accidentally sets off the fuel before striking a match and BLAST the rocket goes up to return home and the little machine is left behind but happiness ensues in the form of 2 pieces of metal pulled from the rocket which the little machine turns into a pair of skies so it is left quite happy skiing on the cheese slopes in space and wallace and gromit return home with the cheese. Also on the dvd are 2 other great adventures The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave people of all ages will enjoy this animated dvd I am sure of that.

"Cracking!"
This is a "cracking" DVD - it includes all 3 of the original movies - A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave plus a bonus features section. The first ten minutes of A Grand Day Out were made by Nick Park by himself. It took two years to film and so he needed help, and Aardman needed animators - wayhay! They got together and finished A Grand Day Out in 1989. The animation is a bit etchy at times, but nevertheless, it is a hilarious escapade! The Wrong Trousers has better clay animation as it shows the breakfast routine in Wallace and Gromit's house, plus some excellent clay animation to show Gromit crying, which is funny to watch as it is animated so well. The gags and jokes in this one are better than A G. D. O., but it is original too, especially the train scene at the end!A close shave shows a new breakfast routine, and Wallace and Gromit's new job - the Wash'n'Go Window Cleaning Service with a Thunderbirds style launch. And there is a new hero in this episode - Shaun the Sheep! And now to prove them all wrong, watch this one to show those who said a motorcycle sidecar cannot fly, how wrong they were! The bonus features include a gallery section, a documentary with Nick Park and several BBC2 idents for Christmas - those are funny, even for the brief seconds they last! All in all, a great DVD for parents and children alike!

A SUPERB ANIMATED PIECE OF UNITED KINGDOM
I was a dedicated fan of WALLACE & GROMIT for many years. This DVD which contains the three and only -till now- episodes of the famous duo was much expected. The storylines are genious, the animation is beyond any expectation.I have already seen the whole DVD several times and every time i discover a new hidden hint,a new joke. From the three about half-an-hour episodes it is rather difficult to say which is the best."A GRAND DAY OUT","THE WRONG TROUSERS",and "A CLOSE SHAVE" have already a special place in history of Animation. Please do yourself a favour and buy this DVD.If you are a dad do hurry and show it to your kids.My 2 years old son claps his hands every time he listens to the -touchy and genious- music of WALLACE & GROMIT and really looks to enjoy the whole film, although he is so young and English is not the language he speaks and understands yet.Bottom line, everything is so British in WALLACE & GROMIT THREE CRACKING ADVENTURES.The teapots, the colours of the sofa, the superb British countryside. And all these are made of plasticine!Wish we had more of these Mr.Nick Parks...

Additional technical warning
Having just read a review warning that this DVD does not play on certain DVD players, I would like to add that it also does not play on my Wharfedale 750. The disc itself is fine, as it played OK on my PC. My son was very disappointed, as Wallace and Gromit are two of his all time favourites, and we were looking forward to having all three adventures on one disc. I have spoken to Techies at the BBC who say that they have filed a report to the manufacturers about the problems with playback and the DVD players affected. I don't know if they will re-release it in a friendlier format or if it just means that we have to buy a new DVD player. Such a shame, as it could have been a classic.Be warned!
