I’m sorry, I’ve only ever purchased the orange and that does not have small dark specs in the powder. It may be the food coloring of the fruit punch flavor, but I don’t know. It would be concerning. Maybe the manufacturer could provide you more reassurance if it’s okay. If you think it’s unsafe, don’t drink it.

Q: Is it suitable to drink any time of the day, or has anyone experience restlessness if consumed in the evening?

It's a protein powder, so unless you are sensitive to that, it is fine to use any time of day.

Q: Does Accelerade contain added sugar?

1 scoop servings (31g) makes 12 oz gives; 120 calories/1g fat/5mg cholesterol/220mg sodium/90mg potassium/21 g carbs/20g sugar/5g protein.I tend to match the accel flavor with my sports drinks (1/2 scoop max) where as the lemon flavor works well with " ice/lemon/orange/lime". The accel doesn't taste sweet/sugary-it's more tart.I tend to avoid sugars in most things and accel is acceptable due to the workout levels daily (swim 3400 meters/32 miles each day.
