Good movie, I thought it would be...
a knock off if you will of the one w/Eastwood & Malkovich but it's not. Fine plot, good acting by all. Thought they missed one guy near the end - ? Recommend.

Superior thriller
"The Sentinel" is a top-notch thriller involving a veteran Secret Service agent, Pete Garrison (Michael Douglas) whose personal life and choices collides with his professional life. While investigating a fellow agent's murder and a plot to kill the President, he finds himself framed for the plot and pursued by his former best friend and Secret Service Investigator, David Breckinridge (Kiefer Sutherland) and Jill Marin (Eva Longoria),his top student from the academy and novice Secret Service Agent. He must elude his pursuers, find the mole at Secret Service subsequently, unmask the blackmailer who has discovered a scandal in his personal life, and stop the assasination. Also in the cast are Kim Bassinger as the First Lady, Sarah Ballentine, David Rasche as President Ballentine, and Martin Donovan as Secret Service Supervisor, William Montrose. This is solid and gripping action-drama.

where's his belt?
I was distracted the entire movie trying to see if Kiefer Sutherland's character ever put on a belt. The first time he appears he is obviously not wearing a belt, despite having a gun and spare magazine in the waistband of his slacks. Spent the entire movie trying to see if he ever put on a belt, but aside from the first shot showing clearly empty belt loops it was hard to see definitively so I'm going to assume his character was just running around with a gun hanging off his pants without a proper belt the entire time. Major distraction and something that should have been caught by anyone on the film crew paying the slightest bit of attention.

Good Action Movie
This movie was suspenseful and was well-acted. Michael Douglas did a great job in the lead role, and the plot keeps your attention until the end of the movie. I would definitely recommend this one to action/suspense fans.

Overused plot
Realized half way through I had actually seen this when it was released. Should have watched the trailer first! Douglas and Sutherland both strong in their respective roles - but the affair between an agent and FLOTUS certainly doesn't help the image of the Secret Service. The plot of a disgraced agent / cop / whoever - going on the run to clear themselves does seem to get rehashed quite a bit !

I happen to love it because I'm in it!
Good intense movie with plenty of action and great cast! Look for me as an secret service agent in the trailer at the 1:19 mark looking pretty mean I would say! LOL

Not a bad film.
Not a bad film... Just not that good either. It was almost typical, nothing really surprised me and I wasn't exactly held on the edge of my seat with the action scenes but nor was a yawning off.The plot itself was simple enough, a secret service agent needs to prove his innocence when he is set up for betraying and attempting to kill the president. An old friend must be the one to hunt him down and it is a rare to who catches who first. See, not bad? I wouldn't say no to recommendations but I don't think it would be on the top of my list either. Now my biggest pet peeve.During the film there is tension between old friends Pete (Douglas) and David (Sutherland). This tension is caused by David believing that Pete slept with his wife. Fair enough. Now he's my problem. Why?Throughout the whole film it never explains why David thinks this way. It is clearly stated early on that David's wife never cheated on him, with Pete or anyone else, and yet for some reason David is sure that she cheated. We are never given a reason why he thinks this way. There is never a story of finding Pete's clothes, seeing Pete run from his home, even his wife being closed off with a strange awkwardness or friendliness towards Pete. In fact there is no hint his wife cheated on him at all and yet he is sure that Pete slept with her. No where in the film is it explained and to me that makes no sense, especially when we are reminded frequently that these two were extremely close at one point, practically brothers... Yet David believes Pete slept with his wife... WHY?! Just give me a reason why for God's sake! It makes no sense!Other than that, great film! :D

Cannot recommend these three DVD's
Cannot recommend these three DVD's. The stories are not easy to understand and the extremely loud music which is constant throughout the films is horrendous.. There are too many car chases and explosion. Also the garish colours throughout is a real trial on ones' eyes. Definitely not to be recommended.

Unfulfilled promise
It sets up a very intriguing situations and for about two-thirds the film is interesting and compulsively watchable -- only to unravel and descend into the most incredible mess. A great pity, given the excellent cast. But such an awful script!
