Genuinely Helpful
This book is really easy to read and well written. It comes with guided audio exercises that you can download and practise wherever you can find a quiet space for ten minutes. As a researcher who spends the whole day hunched over a computer, I can get very wound up mentally and physically. Sophrology is helping me to detach from that stress in a really interesting way. Initially, while reading the book, I didn't engage much with the idea of different systems in the body, but I'm glad I suspended my cynicism, because after a very short time listening to the audio exercises, I was able to relax, get in touch with my thoughts, understand them and feel calmer. I realised that I often try to manage my stress mentally, by willing myself to let stressful thoughts go. However, when I am carrying those small stresses in my shoulders, they come back to mind easily and quickly. Sophrology helps me to be aware of the anxiety I'm carrying in my body, and to let it go, which gives me a much better chance of breaking my mental thought pattern. In the book, the author mentions her own experience with starting Sophrology at a high school student, and feeling like she had a secret super power that her schoolmates didn't have. I definitely feel like this is a really useful tool in my arsenal. I've recommended this book to friends, and even persuaded a very close friend to listen to an exercise and practise with me when she was upset and dwelling on a nasty interaction with a colleague. The 10 minute exercise we did really gave her that 3% distance from the issue that was enough to give her a fresh perspective, and a feeling of choice about how to respond. I look forward to learning more Sophrology techniques.

Sophrology is easy to incorporate into everyday life
I'm naturally sceptical of unfamiliar words ending in 'ology' that talk about consciousness, but I'm a convert in this case! Sophrology is easy to incorporate into everyday life, not too 'heavy', and certainly helps me to feel calmer and more confident. I've found yoga, mindfulness and hypnotherapy helpful in dealing with anxiety to some extent, but somehow putting aspects of them together, as sophrology does, is more effective (and quicker!) than using them all individually. The book is very clear. My only criticism is that the first quarter is quite general and I was beginning to think it would be one of those books that would say 'Sophrology will change your life, but you need to have 10 expensive private consultations to get the benefit'. But, thankfully, there are plenty of exercises are in the book and a link to a great free audio guide.

I highly recommend this book - must read
I'm a Sophrologist in the UK and I must say that Dominique Antiglio's book is to me SPOT ON from the start. It is clearly written, straight to the point and just so easy to read. It also comes with audio exercises which is a great bonus for those who haven't yet experienced the effects of Sophrology techniques. It is really about time the word gets out across the UK about Sophrology and its multiple applications: kids, teenagers, sport performance improvement and mental preparation for competition, birth preparation, pain management, cancer support, exams preparation, self-development... Everyone should know about Sophrology and ought to experience the deep feeling of mental and physical relaxation that comes with experiencing this simple, safe and effective wellbeing practice.

Very subjective
The author is rather presumptuous in basing her philosophy on just her own starting point in the journey towards Sophrology. I WILL re-read because it so much depends on a state of mind at the time, to have any helpful value.. Not hugely helpful therefore to anyone in desperate need to break from a current negative outlook.

An essential addition to life's toolkit.
I only first heard about Sophrology at the beginning of last week (in a Guardian article, I think it was), and immediately sent off for this book which I devoured in two days. It's a very lucidly written book by an author who is clearly passionate about her subject, and is packed full of useful exercises, which mean any reader can get on and start to enjoy the benefits of Sophrology straight away. In addition, the author has provided complementary recordings of the main exercises on her website, which is a real bonus. What I really like about Sophrology is how accessible and immediate it is - it really can be for anyone is any state of health. Brilliant! And it makes me seriously wonder why such an approach isn’t available through the NHS. If you are looking for an easy and pragmatic approach to feeling more relaxed and full of well-being, this book could well be the answer.

I got in touch with Dominique while moving all my family to the other side of the world and she helped me a lot during the process. Her book is an easy, pleasant and inspiring read, giving simple but effective tips to find relaxation and a body/mind balance. Her techniques will follow me through life without any doubt, there is a lot of common sense but also a lot of positivity and energy in her findings. All her recordings on her website can be downloaded for regular usage time and again, which makes the whole process very simple and powerful at the same time.Highly recommended.

An excellent book for anyone interested in the Sophrology health and wellness system.
As someone who has been into numerous energy healing systems (Tai Chi, Qigong, Yoga, Reiki, Quantum-Touch, Zen, Taoism, Dynamic breathing etc.) for more than a two decades I admit to just becoming aware of the Sophrology system recently. In fact, I had never even heard of it until a few months ago. I went on line and found out a little about this relaxation and breathing system and purchased two books on the subject. One was poorly written and had very little actual information on this exercise and breathing method; however, this book (The Life-Changing Power of Sophrology: Breathe and the connect with the calm and happy you by Dominique Antiglio) is just fantastic. It is well-written and very detailed with clear explanations of what Sophrology is and how easy and practical it is to learn and practice. This 228 page soft cover book was a pleasure to read and it is obvious the author is an expert in Sophrology. Though I was quite familiar with the breathing exercises because of my extensive martial art and other energy systems; nevertheless, I did pick up some helpful information to improve my own total approach to health and fitness of mind, body and spirit. This book is organized into three detailed parts. Part one explains “what is Sophrology?” Part two covers “practicing Sophrology.” Part three focuses on “Your future with Sophrology.” There is also a Question and Answer section at the end.In conclusion, if you are interested in learning the Sophrology system of being calm, full of energy, and being happy feeling system this is a must read book.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Chair/Seated Tai Chi/Qigong/Yoga stretching for seniors and the physically challenged).

Excellent practical intro to Sophrology
This book is an excellent introduction to the world of sophrology, the theoretical part is sufficient to understand the principles and I particularly liked the author's emphasis on practice. A "must have" !

Highly recommend this book to discover Sophrology and start practising on your own
Thank you for writing this book Dominique. It’s worth reading when you don’t know what Sophrology is and how it works. It is clearly explained and includes simple practical exercises; an audio can be downloaded for some of them on Dominique’s website. The case studies that are shared in the book illustrate why we ought to experience Sophrology and how Dominique’s toolbox of exercises is effective and easy to fit in our life, anytime, anywhere. These exercises help to reconnect with calmness whenever it is needed or release tensions before they accumulate along our busy day. But it’s not only about stress management, there are many other situations where Sophrology can help.It only takes a few minutes each day to view life from a different perspective, with a more positive attitude, feeling more balanced and confident. It really can change your life.I highly recommend the Life-Changing Power of Sophrology to people who wants to discover Sophrology and reconnect with their inner self.

Best Book On This Wonderful Healing Art
Sophrology is a healing art that I had never heard of as it is more well known over in Europe and that I consider myself lucky to have ever stumbled across. With the few books that are out there on the subject I settled on this title by Dominique Antiglio whose sincere writing style and friendly, simplified approach to the practice I really clicked with right from the jump. In addition she makes available for free on her website the audio that goes with the book that walks you through the exercises and it is all working beautifully:)
