Metaphor: ReFantazio Launch Edition - PlayStation 5

Great game for those who are fans of turn based RPGS. If you are a Persona fan you will enjoy this title and it still features the friendship and developing stats mechanic. There is no dating or romance mechanic which isn't a loss at all because the story doesn't need it. Combat is a fun mix of action and turn based combat where you can damage the enemy to cause a stun effect before turn based combat begins. Just like other SMT/Persona games you have weaknesses due to weapon types/magic. The soundtrack is great though not on the level of Persona 5 or Clair Obscur Expedition 33. The Japanese and American voice acting is superb so you will learn to love the characters no matter the language. Buy this game if you are looking for a fun new IP with a great class system and a combat system that is easy to learn.

This game so far has completely surpassed ALL of my expectations! I avoided spoilers for this game like the plague when it was announced, so this is only my opinion on the first 4 hours of the game; take it with a grain of salt, if you will (pun intended.) The visuals alone and the SOUNDTRACK, has me overwhelmed in the best way possible. The character designs do not miss, the battle music is a banger (the chanting in it is everything honestly), and the voice acting thus far is quality itself. I usually go for Japanese audio/Eng subtitles on most games, but I was curious about how the English audio would sound on this one (like Persona 5 Royal and some other Atlus games.) I ended up keeping my settings on the English audio in the end, because I really love all the different accents! The plot is also worth noting, as there is a LOT of world-building. I also wouldn't worry about getting lost with all of the terminology in the game (or even about a certain character's history as more are introduced) because there is a glossary to keep you updated on all of it. All in all, so far I would 150% recommend this game to anyone who is a Persona/SMT lover, or any rpg lover in general. I will update my review once I finish the game though!

Game was great and really time frames for each mission make you plot out choices for bonding and grinding. I liked it a lot.

Metaphor is by far one the best games I've played I really enjoyed the creativity and the character design Story is simple yet entertaining

Feels very persona-like, obviously, which is very welcome but at the same time Re:fantazio has been a breath of fresh air for the JRPG genre. It's wonderful for cozy gamers who delight in a good story and immersive world, but also offers somewhat of a challenge for hardcore gamers (though this is debatable). Pros - Delightful graphics and views really capture the idea of a whimsical fantasy - Combat system is fun and fluid - Character designs and voice actors are back to back incredible - Captivating storytelling that draws you in to find out more - Countless dungeons and lots of interesting NPC's to talk to - Enjoyable Social links Cons - Generic fighter archetypes (Warrior, thief, merchant, etc) with not much changes to their designs as you level up - The origin of the conflict is not clear and you simply have to accept it as it is - Sometimes the game feels too easy even on the harder difficulty - Side quests give you a lot to do but as you actually work on completing enough of them, they all start to blend in with each other Overall really solid game and ideal for a cozy gamer that wants a storybook game. Can definitely compete with Persona as one of my favorite RPG's and I'm very excited hearing about the possible sequel entry.
