Triple Disc CD Set Of Stray Cats' Finest Live PerformancesWithout doubt the finest rockabilly band to emerge out of the early 1980s revival, New York's Stray Cats were also among the most stylish, genuine and musically adept groups to have arrived during a period best known for its synth-laden sub-disco tedium. This superb collection features three CDs, each featuring live broadcast recordings from the Cats, taken from different eras of their existence. Kicking off with a dynamic show from Massey Hall in Toronto in 1983, shortly before the group's third studio album Rant & Rave was released, this is followed on disc two by a fine collection of the guys' television appearances recorded between 1981 and 1990. The set concludes on disc three with a later period gig from 1992: the group's legendary show from Asbury Park in New Jersey. With magnificent audio quality throughout and some of the best setlists Stray Cats ever performed, this live collection is destined to become a must-have addition to every fan's collection.Track Listing Disc 1: Baby Blue Eyes Double Talkin' Baby Rumble In Brighton Drink That Bottle Down Built For Speed Foggy Mountain Breakdown Jeannie, Jeannie, Jeannie Stray Cat Strut Lonely Summer Nights Rev It Up And Go C'mon Everybody Runaway Boys Oh Boy Somethin' Else Fishnet Stockings Rock This Town Important Words You Can't Hurry Love Disc 2: Baby Blue Eyes Stray Cat Strut Rock This Town Runaway Boys Rock This Town Built For Speed Foggy Mountain Breakdown Jeannie, Jeannie, Jeannie Lonely Summer Nights Rev It Up And Go C'mon Everybody Oh Boy Somethin' Else Rock This Town Double Talkin' Baby Fishnet Stockings Rock This Town Something's Wrong With My Radio Gene and Eddie Nine Lives Gene and Eddie Disc 3: Intro/Please Don't Touch Too Hip Gotta Go Summertime Blues Gene and Eddie Something's Wrong With My Radio Elvis on Velvet Cry Baby I Fought The Law Stray Cat Strut Rock This Town Mystery Train Somethin' Else

Worth the cost
A stray cats fan and them live in concert years ago. This group of cd's has songs I had never heard. Not the best digitally remastered I have heard, but good. Got a lot of good music for the cost.

Disk 1 NOT Stray Cats, very disappointed
Disk One is NOT The Stray Cats Toronto, 1983 as the box states it should be. It is some totally different cd called Underground Rockabilly, and definitely not Stray Cats!

At full pelt
This is a 3 CD set in jewel cases presented in a slip case style card box.CD1 is "Toronto Strut" as in "Toronto Strut" - it's the very same CD in cellowrap (the others aren't in cellowrap!). CD 2 is stuff, so it says, taken-off tv: some of it sounds too good. It's a mixture of tracks - all with good sound, apart from last few (oddly 1990s!). It's a shame they haven't done some fades between some tracks as they are straight cuts and you can go from a thin sound to a fat sound! Performances are terrific. Short concert excepts from the Roxy in both 1982 and 1983. There's a semi legit (in UK) CD called Hollywood Strut - but that's Roxy 1981. I thought that was the best concert released so far (there is a BBC Live in Concert from 1981 that remains unreleased - be good to be paired with the first album!).To me the Stray Cats went "off" in 1983 - check out the Rockpalast CD/DVD set. They've slowed the tempos on that, so was pleased to hear the 1983 tracks on this set as loud and raucous! The 3rd CD is a live concert from New Jersey in 1992. An hour long radio broadcast. Well this is better than anything from the previous decade: Setzer is almost out of control on guitar and the band bangin' away behind him. The version here of "Something's wrong with my radio" rocks how it ought to (not lame as per Rockpalast - in 1983 - although they did split in 1984!).It starts with the old Pirates number "Please don't touch" - it nears the intensity of the Pirates versions (studio and live) from around 1978, but not the Headgirl release, that got to something like No 4 in the UK singles chart, with the pairing of Motorhead and Girlschool. I guess either of these versions the band must have heard - the ending here is the same as both those releases. They finish with 5+ mins of Mystery Train and Somethin' Else with Setzer dropping in all sorts of riffs a la Gene and Eddie song.So I bought this without seeing a review - but well worth the £12 for the two discs as I've played them non-stop + all versions here of Rock this Town are 7+ mins long!

It’s missing the point
Received a sealed box set today, only to find that Toronto Strut cd was replaced with UNDERGROUND ROCKABILLY Very disappointing as the was what I bought this set for it retails for around the same price as this set on its own.

3 CD fantastiques
