Negronis, Dark & Stormys both benefit from a big ice cube, these are great
I love a homemade cocktail or a decent single malt and have a bunch of large rocks ice cube trays. Picked these up to see how they compare. These are individual cubes and produce very attractive ice with a textured surface which lasts for about 2 mins before it's indistinguishable from other cubes but looks great when you serve it up.Pre-boiling the water and cooling can help to clarify the ice and these cubes also isolate the upper surface from the air so you *can* get very clear cubes if you work at it.The walls of these cube "trays" are pretty substantial and result in perfect cubes rather than the misshapen ones I usually end up with. Not cheap at over £6 per cube... Not sure I would buy more at the price...

Nice pattern
Please don't expect the clarity you see in my photos, I have lots of clear ice makers and use boiled water and directional freezing to get the results in the photo. These are not directional molds but if you have a thermal box you can use these in one of those for clear ice.The size is a little smaller than my regular cubes and balls but it is still a decent size, a little under 50mm. The mold holds together pretty well but as I have found in the past, this type of mold will eventually start to allow a line along the joint position, but if you allow it to slowly thaw a little before yanking the cube out, you can prolong their life. There is a 6 cube version that is cheaper than this but I wanted these to use with a directional freeze and being singles it meant there was more room for maneuvering in the box. They melt on par with similar sized cubes and if you don't use clear ice then the pattern on these is quite nice. I did make a cube with tap water and the result was OK, clear at the top and chunk of contaminated at the bottom but if you float it in a dark drink with the nastiness at the bottom then this pattern does stand up better than cubes or spheres without clear freezing because it breaks the light up better.Reasonable price for the pattern and decent enough for use even with tap water.

Decorative ice mould for a rocks glass
These ice moulds come in two parts which fit together well and then can be filled by pouring water into the funnel at the top. Once frozen there will be a little ice escaping from the funnel due to expansion but that snaps off easily. When you open the mould you have a nice cube of ice with diamond like patterning, perfect size for a rocks glass and pairs well with an old fashioned, negroni or similar drink. Slight faff to use and ice won't be clear but nice enough.
