Perfect for what we needed!
I think the name brand of this is probably a more solid in the handle. Any tool that screws the handle in 3 pieces is going to be less solid than one that is just one long handle. That said, it’s also half the price haha. This works perfect for us and our yard! We have a lot of dandelions and other weeds in our yard, nothing too crazy. We also have very clay heavy and thick dirt, this goes through it no problem! Many times it gets the weed from the root. It is also easy on your back! The other thing I will mention is that a screwdriver or some other tool is helpful to get the dirt and weeds out of the prongs.

Best weeding tool I've ever used
This yard tool pulls up weeds really well. the handles come loose while working with it but nothing that a simple twist to tighten won't fix. Just be aware that some dirt does come out with the weeds and leaves a hole about 1" in diameter.

Cheap handle
When it arrived I was sceptical of the quality of the stick, the claws however do look like they are quality made. I ordered this lower priced weeder rather than spending more on the higher priced Grandpa's name brand version. But.... Today as I was using it, I heard a crack in the stick. Can't find the crack at the moment but as I continued to use it I kept hearing that crack. I may end up having to drill out the rivet that holds the stick to the claw part and run to my local hardware store to buy a better quality stick. Then I'll hold it together with a bolt. Once I factor the cost of the tool and the new stick, I'll have spent more than the name brand version. So do yourself a favor and buy the name brand instead of this cheap version. The name brand version can be had with a metal pole too.

Keep the puller. Ditch the handle.
This would be way better with one solid handle instead of a screw-together handle. It just wants to wiggle around and come unscrewed. It works great for pulling weeds (and a couple inches of dirt to go with it), but it never feels that sturdy.

Works on Stubborn Weeds
This weed puller tool is quick and easy to use for yard work! It makes pulling weeds so much easier without bending or straining my back. The long handle and sharp claws grab the weeds right at the roots, so they don’t grow back as quickly. It’s sturdy and durable, and works well even in tougher soil and stubborn weeds. Handle wears off and stops doing its job
It is an interesting concept and it works under certain conditions. If the ground is too soft or too hard it doesn’t pull the root. So the ground conditions are critical for the root to come out. Now specifically about the item, they ship the pole/handle in three pieces that you need to screw together when you receive it. I’m sure this is great from a logistics point of view for shipping and storing during transit, but the wood on the handle is super cheap and soft and the threads start to loosen up as you use it. So you need to constantly re-tighten the three pieces so they to not separate. Eventually the cheap wood wears off and the threads don’t work any more. You keep turning the handle to tighten it up but there are simply no threads left and it keeps spinning constantly not tightening any more.Best option is to put a new handle. I’m going to look for something that fits, possibly a bit longer too as I’m tall and the handle is a bit short.

Works well
This device works well on crabgrass. That's what I got it for, and it pulls the weed and its roots easily, with a satisfying ripping sound. Large weeds sometimes need two bites. If the soil is loose, you can use the puller without stepping on the lever; just thrust the tool in and push the handle over to yank out the weed. When you do need to step on the lever, you usually also have to manually clear the pulled weed from the jaws. The tool is well-made and sturdy. The joints in the handle thread together solidly, with no wobbling. After two days of use, they are still tight. Metal sleeves reinforce the joints. The working end of the tool is two solid castings joined by a heavy rivet, with an enamel finish. The only feature I would add would be a cushioned grip on the end of the handle. Maybe a piece of large-diameter pool noodle would fit.

Worked ok for about 4 pulls...
Functioned decently, though not nearly as well as advertised, then the wooden shaft broke on a weed that wasn't even particularly challenging. I had to fit the tip to an old metal jack handle. Now it is durable, but still only so-so on even basic pulls.
