A DAO supplement that really works!
This DAO enzyme works quite well to prevent histamine reactions from food. However, for me personally another brand (which I won't mention here) works even better. I suppose it depends on your level of histamine intolerance and how many HDU's (units) you require for a single dose. For many people, this supplement may be more than adequate. In my experience you don't want to take more DAO than is necessary because it can make you a bit lethargic (similar to the feeling of Benedryl). So, more or more powerful is not always better. I really like the packaging and individual sealed blister packs to prevent exposure to oxygen and the like. If you have problems with histamine intolerance (or think you do), give this one a try. If this supplement does nothing at all, then you probably don't have a lack of DAO enzyme. It's worth the money.

Excellent result, fair pricing
Because my reactions if any only happened after my evening meal and several hours after I've eaten I decided to try this delayed release formula. It's superior to others that I've tried and it's impact and control of histamine reactions. Fair pricing for what is and what it does.

every bit as good as more expensive versions
Who would image that healthy foods like avocado, spinach, strawberries, kombucha, canned fish, etc. could have high levels of histamine in them? Certainly not me, until I read about histamine intolerance. The levels of histamine in these foods don't bother most people, but for people whose digestive system has been primed to react to histamine by chronic SIBO, MACS, or other digestive disorder, high histamine foods can cause a lot of bloating, discomfort, flushing, etc. Wait, what? Even some Lactobacilli produce histamine? No wonder I can't take probiotics or drink kombucha anymore!I'd recommend trying HistaHarmony to anyone who gets headaches from red wine, or feels bloated and ill after eating processed meat, cheese, avocado, tomatoes, spinach, or kimchi.Diamine oxidase (DAO) doesn't block histamine receptors the way antihistamines do (that's why antihistamines have so many side effects). Instead, DAO stays in your digestive tract, breaking down the histamine itself. A few years ago, there was only one company (Umbrellux) selling DAO. Nice that we have choices now! For me, HistaHarmony works as well as Umbrellux DAO, NaturDAO, and Histamine Digest, but at a lower price and without fillers. Don't be put off by the tiny pill vs. price - this isn't a case where size matters. Before DAO, I had gotten to the point that I was reacting to all foods, either nauseous, or crampy, or like my guts were going to explode. Two HistaHarmony before every meal (for me that's super fresh meats and veggies, low FODMAP, low histamine, no dairy, no grains, no yeast) lets me be OK after eating. Six HistaHarmony and I can have small amounts of say, red wine or sushi. This both a great relief and has let me feel like less of a food weirdo at social events. If you have food issues, give the Healthy Gut Company products a try. They are all good quality and backed by research.

Not effective for me
Made my symptoms worse and didn’t help. Taking just beef kidney capsules seems to work better for me.Many people seem to like this, so I think it’d worth a try. The company reached out to me to offer a refund. That says a lot about how they back their product and I appreciate it.

CAUSES BLOATING IF YOU HAVE SULFITE/SULFUR INTOLERANCE
Do not want to slam this product so I gave it a four star rating because the bloating it caused me was linked to my sulfite/sulfur issues. Although DAO does not contain sulfur, it must contain sulfur-containing amino acids like cysteine or methionine because it comes for pigs, which causes me major issues. So instead of helping my HIT it just complicates the issue and all the dovetail issues tied to it. To come to this conclusion regarding the amino acids I just googled "does DAO contain sulfur." Once I stopped taking it, the bloat seems to have gone away. Only sad thing is I had just bought a new box, sitting unopened, now in the supplement bone-yard!

Meds work, shipping pkg needs improved
5 stars for product - works as described. 3 stars total however, as the pills are shipped in their original flimsy paper box which arrived smashed. Makes it too easy to tamper with, as well. Weird way to receive medication.
