Specimens are high quality & sample size great - much larger than other harness kits I’ve seen. The kit does not include a glass plate, nail, & copper “penny” which are typically included in a hardness kit. However, those extra items are easily found, so not a problem.

This is a great kit for the price. Most kits with labeled metal scratchers are over $100.I was surprised to open this kit and find just a bag of minerals. I expected them to be labeled, so I would know what each one is.I printed the picture from the Amazon seller's description and figured out what is what but if I was a total beginner, even that could be difficult.Although I would prefer a box with 9 separate labeled spots to hold the 9 mineral specimens,This kit will suit me just fine.I'm glad I bought it.

Nice looking gem stones , good size rocks , fun to test on them self and other mineral/gem get a good understanding of mineral hardness, compared to expensive pin set which I have it is nice looking professional , which is hard to test on each other

This is a nice, small, affordable Moh's scale testing kit. Each rock comes in a small zip lock bag, labeled with the rock and hardess level. There are no instructions, so you have to know what the rocks are for and how to use them. It gets the job done though. Great for demonstrations for Scouts and class rooms.

My shipment didn’t come with any identification so I had to figure it out myself … was not difficult to do if you are familiar with this material. Later I did notice there is a photo description among the pictures on the Amazon ordering page. The apatite was a little “grainy” making it difficult to see a scratch on it if you wanted to check if a specimen could scratch it. Other than that, it is serving me well.

The minerals I was looking for but the packaging and storage of the minerals was NOT what I was expecting.They came in individual baggies crunched into a white box.Description of minerals were ok. Not true instructions.I was mostly disappointed that it did not come in its own case for storage.Buy with that in mind: you may need to purchase another separate container for the minerals.

For the price and purpose this was a perfect set. Used this for meeting one of the cub scout requirements for Mohs rock hardness. Piece came in labeled bags and the scouts were able to successfully organize the rocks by hardness. Only recommendation/helpful hint is to lay the rocks with their bags and take a picture so you know which rock goes in which bag when you have removed them.
