Used this to siphon gas out of an old car's gas tank that has been sitting in my yard for a few years, before attempting to restore the car. It is a very simple operation and not a mess at all. Just make sure you have a container rated to hold gasoline nearby to place it into. Good little tool to have in the trunk of a vehicle in case of emergencies as well. I'm hoping I won't have to ever use it for that reason.

The fittings are far from watertight. In order to make it functional I needed to supply a neoprene gasket, Teflon tape, and a hose clamp in order to fasten the outlet hose on securely, none of them supplied. Once adequately assembled, the pump works well, however it's capacity is very small, only 100 cc's per stroke. That's seven tablespoons. It takes me over a hundred strokes simply to empty a dehumidifier bucket, I'm guessing about 3 gallons. Instructions Chinglish unintelligible, are luck to interpret good them. Don't waste money on this product. I purchased this to siphon the old oil out of my motorcycle. When the package arrived, what I found was a cheaply made hand pump, with a couple of kinked-up hoses and chintzy connectors. The thing is not effective for this particular application. I threw the pump out, and ordered a better-quality pump, '4 Uncles' brand.

Worked WAY better than I expected! I used it to drain my automatic transmission fluid in my Acura TSX and it worked as well as the drain plug that I couldn't remove! Highly recommended for all auto mechanics to have in their toolbox!
