desertcart.com: Reaver: 9781455526970: Ione, Larissa: Books Review: Finally! The twin mysteries of Reaver and Harvester are revealed, and Larissa Ione once again does it in sensational, action-pac - OH. HOLY, GOD! This book is non-stop action from start to finish – seriously, there is not a quiet moment, it’s all go from the first page, and the suspense and excitement doesn’t let up until the very end. There is action, horror, drama and romance, and bomb after bomb is dropped, revealing so much about the past and adding even more layers to Ione’s intricate world. The way she has constructed her world and woven these characters together is absolutely incredible, and the revelations in this book include some massive game changers! I love Reaver! First introduced in the Demonica series as a fallen angel - a former angel kicked out of heaven for committing a major sin - it has always been clear that he’s one of the good guys - albeit a smartass, rule-bending good guy, but his honour, compassion, and loyalty have always been his driving force. Throughout the Demonica series he goes through some huge ups and downs, only for that to be stepped up when he became a major player in the Lords of Deliverance books, first as the heavenly watcher to the Four Horseman of the Apocalype, and later as something else completely. And now, we finally get his story – his whole story! His past, his previously removed memories, and his strange link with Harvester are all slowly uncovered, and holy freaking revelations, it’s HUGE! Harvester has always been a really intriguing character. Introduced in the Lords of Deliverance series as the evil Watcher to the Horsemen, she has been an evil, conniving bitch. I always had my suspicions about her, and while some of my predictions were spot on, other surprises revealed in the last book of the series came as a huge surprise. I was stoked that her past is explained in the prologue of this book, it provides a sensational lead in for the rest of the story. Reaver and Harvester have had a sensational dynamic. Their strong hatred and animosity towards each other has always had lust-filled undertones, and throughout the series, the chemistry between them has built even as they’ve fought and kicked the shit out of each other. It’s a great set up for an unlikely romance, but I must say I didn’t feel it as much as I have in the other books of the series. Perhaps because there is so much else going on in the story that the intimacy between them don’t get a lot of focus, and I felt like there wasn’t enough time spent exploring the shift in things between them. Although of course, they’re great together – the sex is hot, the bantering is epic, and Reaver getting all caveman and territorial over his woman is freaking awesome. They both go through hell in this book – literally! The two of them are hit over and over again with physical, emotional and mental torment that really should cripple them, but which actually just provide the stepping stones to them unravelling the past and finally moving forward, and that’s what I wanted to see more of – the shift from lust to love. But still, their story is an amazing one, with a lot of depth, and I loved getting to see Reaver get all romantic, but still with an edge. Both the Demonica and LOD crew make appearances, although this story shifts away from them and has a stronger focus on the angelic side of things, with Reaver and Harvester battling angels, demons, fallen angels, twisted archangels, and even Satan himself, who brings a horrifying edge to the story, as the countdown is on for an impending battle between Heaven and Hell. But, as always, through all of that intensity runs the wisecracks and humour that makes this series so much fun. I am so in love with this series, with the world that Ione has given us and with the huge, extended family that she has created. I genuinely care about all of these characters, and I really enjoyed seeing Reaver and Harvester’s individual stories come to fruition and seeing them get the HEA that they so desperately deserved. I loved this book, and with two more books promised in the series, I’m really excited to see where Ione takes us from here. Review: 4.5 Stars! - Reaver is a battle angel with an attitude and he’s not afraid to break the rules. Harvester is a bad girl Fallen angel who sacrificed everything to work as an undercover agent in Hell. The two get along like fire and ice, but when Harvester’s cover is blown and she’s doomed to an eternity of unimaginable torture, Reaver does what no other angel has dared to do: go deep into the heart of Satan’s fortress and steal the devil’s prize. Little does Reaver know that rescuing Harvester will be the easy part. The two of them will have the fight of their immortal lifetimes on their hands as they try to get out and halt an impending war between Heaven and Hell. Reaver is everything Larissa Ione fans have been waiting for! Dark, gritty action meets red-hot romance in this love story that has been thousands of years in the making. You’re in for the ride of your life as Ms. Ione takes you through the darkest parts of Hell on a journey filled with an incredible number of surprises. At the heart of Reaver are, of course, Reaver and Harvester, two characters I’ve loved since Eternal Rider (my first Larissa Ione book). Reaver is an angel with no memory of who he is beyond the past thirty years. He knows he’s the father of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and he’s fairly desperate to learn about who he was before he became Reaver. Harvester is the key to his understanding, so his mission to rescue her isn’t altogether selfless. I won’t reveal the details of what Reaver learns, but suffice it to say that he wasn’t always the angel readers now adore. Some of the shine wore off for me when it came to Reaver, but I actually liked that he’s even more complex than he was to begin with. As for Harvester, she continues to be my favorite Larissa Ione character. She sacrificed everything to protect the children of the angel she loved, and her years as a Fallen angel and spy have irrevocably changed her from the sweet angel she once was. Harvester’s both incredibly strong and deeply vulnerable, good and evil, and overall a fantastic contradiction in so many ways. Quite simply, I love her. Both she and Reaver live their lives in shades of grey and Ms. Ione gives so much depth to their characters that it’s impossible not to be drawn into their story. The phrase “hot as hell” has never been so apt as it is in Reaver. Reaver and Harvester have off the charts chemistry that will have you turning on the A/C even in the depths of winter. Their joint past as Yenrieth and Verrine is woven into the story and though I’d have liked to see a touch more of who they once were, what’s really important is how they grow over the course of Reaver. Though it’s clear they were made for each other, the road to happily ever after isn’t an easy one. Old wounds and new obstacles threaten to hinder them at every turn, but their willingness to fight for each other and their love made me one happy reader. As I previously mentioned, there are plot twists aplenty in Reaver. I won’t reveal them, for that would spoil much of the fun for readers. What I will say is that the war between Heaven and Hell is taken to the next level and I was blown away by the revelations of what some will do in an attempt to turn the tide in their favor. I’m pretty sure I yelled at my copy of the book once or twice. I love both the organic nature of the plot twists Ms. Ione delivers and the fact that she was able to surprise me. The only niggle I had about said surprises was that I wished for a bit more development regarding the archangel Raphael’s involvement in the plot. Reaver is the fifth Lords of Deliverance book and the tenth book in the combined Demonica/Lords of Deliverance series. If you haven’t read any of Ms. Ione’s books before, I recommend at least reading the last two Lords of Deliverance books (Lethal Rider and Rogue Rider) before beginning this story as so much of what happens in those books affects the events in Reaver. Many past heroes and heroines have a role to play in Reaver, which will surely please fans and give them another reason to become emotionally invested to the story. The repercussions of Reaver's events will undoubtedly resonate through the next Demonica book. Whose story will it be? Oh, that I’ll leave you to discover. If the excerpt is anything to go by, then Ms. Ione has a hell of a lot more excitement planned for Demonica fans. Reaver was my most anticipated book of 2013 and Ms. Ione did not disappoint. Harvester and Reaver’s story was well worth the wait and I hope we see much more of them as the Demonica series continues. As Reaver shows, Larissa Ione is a powerhouse author whose unique stories and characters stay with you long after you finish reading her books. Kimberly Review courtesy of Wit and Sin

Great series... Loved it

I've waited for years to read reavers story and I couldn't put it down, it was thrilling with non stop action between the angels and demons and the romance between reaver and harvester was scorching. all the characters were great and 3 dimensional they could walk right off the page. the story starts with reaver planning to rescue harvester from being tortured in hell by her father satan, harvester doesnt know reaver used to be yenrieth the father of the four horsemen of the apocalypse and he was advised by the archangel Raphael not to tell her as she despises yenrieth. What follows is a fast paced story that is full of twists throughout and it was great reading about the previous characters like eidolon, shade and wraith and all the others who have had their story, I also cant wait to read revenants story as his character seemed grouchy and witty and I think not totally evil.

Me ha gustado la historia pero no tanto como las otras novelas de la serie demonica. Hay muchos personajes involucrados y cuesta seguir el hilo.

Amazing, was a page turner, could not put it down, had to find out what was going to happen next.
