Really Nice except...
I like the user interface of this compass and other Silva compasses. Such as the Silva Expedition G 360, Silva Lensatic 360 Engineer and Silva Ranger 2.0. All have the same problem. Weak luminous on the North Needle. What good are all the other luminous markings (which are nice and bright) if the North-needle is so damn dim you can't see it after 2 minutes? Silva must have bought a gazillion of these needles balanced with thin luminous and are working through inventory. All in all, Great in daytime... not so much for night use without constant lighting with flashlight or glow-stick. Adjustable declination, yes. Subtle Clinometer, yes. I also like having the map orienting lines in the capsule unhindered by a company logo as the competition has done. If having bright working luminous is your top choice/priority, go with the competition (suunto). If you want daytime use with clean usable markings, go Silva!

Silva, made in China?
Great Compass, although made in china It seems to be undamaged and functional.

Durable, quality construction
This is the North American version of Silva (not built in Sweden), however the construction is sturdy and durable. The needle is dampened well, does not 'dance' in the housing and settles fast. The slope angle indicator built into the compass is nice, as is the declination adjustment capability. Certainly worth the asking price...

High Silva quality, but…
Easy to use and very accurate like all Silva compasses but the lack of a luminous bezel makes it impossible to see the degrees at night. The only luminous markers being the needle and 2 marks in the direction of travel. Furthermore the degrees are marked on the lower outside ring on the bezel making them hard to read when looking down while using it. Still, it works great as all Silva products do, but there are better choices

You're thinking about buying a cheaper one
I started with a cheaper one. WASTE OF MONEY. It wasn't long before the cheap one developed a large air bubble making it totally useless. not even heavy enough to keep as a paper weight. Could be used as a Christmas tree ornament. The Silva is so superior for only a few more dollars. It has a break away neck lanyard. Built in declination adjustment key. The neck lanyard has ruler measurements which can be used for measuring distances on a map. Has everything else the cheaper compass has and probably more things I can't think of right now.

All Around Outstanding Compass
This old Eagle Boy Scout bought this compass as a gift to a new Boy Scout. This Silva compass is just as high quality as the Silva compass I was gifted way back in 1968. Great value for the quality.

Great Compass, just one flaw to mine
I am heading on a 100 mile hike tomorrow (3 days before I received this compass). The compass had a HUGE bubble in it. I did some research and found out that a bubble that is < 1/4" is acceptable. This one is about 1/2". I called Amazon and they replaced it. Sent a new one and it is just fine. The declination is easy to align. It comes with a card that helps you figure out the slope based on contour intervals (1:24k with 20 ft interval and 1:24 with 40ft interval). I am pleased with this compass as of this writing. Hopefully it doesn't fail in the field.

Item is American version made for Northern Hemisphere it doesn't work in Australia. Needle slopes and catches on baseplate giving errors. It is not suitable for use in Australia and needed to be returned. Look for the versions marked 'MS' it will be on the package label on back. This one had a label referring to California regulations.

The compass comes with a US slope card not a European slope card. This information is missing the product description.

A embalagem original estava aberta e tinha fita adesiva. Pelo preço que custou e pela marca, isto não deveria acontecer.
