hard to fit
come separate, these usually have something that locks them together until fitted to the wall then you remove the lock , thse you have to fit as two parts , don't work as good as others ive had but still usable

A simple and easy way to monitor a wall crack for movement...
This crack monitor kit comes in a simple resealable pouch and there are 3x more pouches inside which contain a single kit in each, so 3x kits in total. The crack monitor is a simple idea but does offer a detailed review of a crack over time. It is made of two acrylic strips with one that has the measuring guide on, and the other has a red crosshair. The idea is that you fix them to your wall, on either side of the crack, and as the crack moves over time, you can visually read how far the crack has moved. It is quite accurate, and it uses millimetres so you can really get an accurate reading on smaller movements. There are wall plugs and screws included in each kit so you can properly secure the acrylic strips, so they don’t move at their fixing points and is a lot more reliable than any adhesive method.I have a crack that I have in my garden shed which is made out of concrete blocks. The foundations were laid over clay and a crack soon appeared on two opposing walls, most likely due to the clay moving as it soaks up moisture. I used to use two pieces of paper which were taped to the wall, and I could see how it was moving over time. This kit allows me to accurately measure the width of the crack and shows me if it has moved further apart or closer together. Over the past month, I have seen very little movement, to the point that I’m not sure if it’s moved at all. If it does move though, this crack monitor kit will show me, in mm, how far it has moved and in what direction. To be fair, in my case, a month isn’t enough for the crack to move but it’s good to see that I can get an accurate reading when it does. This is a very simple kit to use and is the easiest, and more accurate, method to monitor a crack over time. I highly recommend this kit if you have a crack in your wall and you need to monitor it. It’s reasonably priced and will give you a precise measurement.

Very handy for monitoring/evidencing movement
These crack monitors have been installed for a while on a crack in our fairly recently laid hard floor. They were fairly easy to install but you do need to be prepared to drill into or epoxy onto the surface. Very important to remove the plastic protective film so the grid can be easily visualised. They've been very useful for proving movement and expansion of cracks over a period of time.
