Looks like that’s a question you need to ask an expert. But in my own opinion, it’s the good bacteria that makes it healthy and a little bit of sugar is not bad cuz that’s what our body needs for energy.

Q: Can I make without using yogurt maker?

You can but, Homemade yogurt without a yogurt maker: These methods are not perfect since the yogurt made with Yogourmet original yogurt starter needs to incubate during 4-4 1/2 hours at a constant temperature of 42-44°C (108-112°F). A lower temperature would prevent the bacteria from growing, on the other hand an higher temperature would kill the bacteria.

Q: The old box contained 30 g. The new box says 18 g and the description says 30. How does half the amount of starter make the same quality yogurt?

The attached picture shows 0.6 oz. Used to be that packets were 5 grams. Each packet made 1 quart. Customer Service at the company should have a correct response. click on the picture results in: Includes one 1 oz. Q: How many batches can i do?

This box will have 6 packs of yogurt starter. Each pack will make one liter of yogurt. I use an electric yogurt maker and I brew for around 14 hours. This makes a very tangy, thick yogurt with lots of active cultures, which I like. (The box says four hours since a lot of people don't like the tangy taste.) This way I don't have to strain it to make it Greek. If you use about a quarter cup of yogurt from a previous batch you made, you can use one package for two liters. I usually do this because I am cheap. (Actually, you can just use the yogurt you made for a starter, but that eventually will end up having some off flavors because the two different yogurt bacterias used have slightly different optimal brewing temperatures. One might grow more than the other and throw off the flavor balance.) You can always start off with fresh packets each time and get very consistent results.
