I love these things! I've been building a miniature theme park in my living room and use multiple Sprites to play triggered audio or video clips via push buttons. I've used them for animatronic talking parrots, musical clips that play when secret doors open etc. The trick is to read the owners manual. I'm not an engineer, just a hobbyist, but if you simply follow the set up instructions for triggering and playback options, they work like a charm! If you do have questions the Media Wiz folks are easy to reach by email or phone and extremely helpful. Have fun!

I love Sprites, we own 4 of them for Halloween props and shows. They are versatile, but easy to use. By default you just stick a memory card in them and they'll start playing the files, on a loop, when turned on. 90% of the time, this is all that is needed/wanted and makes them extremely easy to control. Just have a timer that turns on power to the Sprite and display and the show starts up, no user input needed. However when more is needed, the Sprite is there to deliver. They are EXTREMELY configurable. Not just things like video resolution and so on, but what to play and how to play it. They also integrate great with show controllers, you can have them play different files based on different triggers being activated. They aren't cheap, and you can probably find a DVD player at a thrift store for a lot less and use that, but it is going to be a pain and the Sprite is just going to work.

This is the media player that I have been looking for. I have used multiple for Halloween decorations and none of them started automatically when powered on, which meant I would have to turn on the power and then go to each unit, go through the menu and start the video. For this, I literally plugged in the USB drive with the file I wanted to play, turned it on and it started playing and looping. While it is a little more expensive than the AtmosFX or other media players I have tried, this one worked flawlessly.

I own 4 other of these units. Even though difficult to set up, when they work they are fun. The biggest problem is customer support, the fifth unit I purchased along with Hydra didn't work. I contacted customer support, they were no help and actually mocked me as too dumb. After returning the item for a replacement, I was charged a restocking fee when the problem was clearly on their poor quality and lack of customer support. NEVER AGAIN Mediawiz.
