Q: I tested distilled water and alkali 9+ ph water. distilled shows about 5+ ph. alkali 6+ ph. completely off. any tips or return?

You’re probably aware that strip readings are a bit subjective on behalf of the individual doing the testing and are not as accurate as using a calibrated pH meter and they provide “ball park’ range readings. I think distilled water should be about pH 7 (neutral). Perhaps doing some more tests and comparing them with a calibrated pH meter readings will help determine whether or not to return them, or compensate for the difference between the strip readings and those given by the pH meter. If the differences between the two readings are pretty consistent. If you need more precise readings, use a calibrated pH meter instead.
