Best book for steel design, explicit and easy to follow
I have been checking many books on steel design, from one to another I think, this is the best resource for the student and the professional. I've been teaching steel design for the last 4 years and this has been one great source for understanding and explaining the students all the nuts and bolts about the process, I suggest you to buy the Steel Design Manual from AISC to accompany this and you're done with all the tools you'll need to design your steel structures.

Good textbook
The author of this textbook does a very good job of simplifying complex topics and design procedures in steel. This textbook does fail on explaining the theory and mechanics of steel members, which I believe is very important in design. If you simply just want to learn the design procedures of steel members, this is an excellent textbook. However, if you want to learn the theory and mechanics of steel members, I would not buy this book. This book also contains many mistakes, so if you do buy it, be sure to view the errata from the publishers website.

Book design review
I purchased this book because I wanted to study for the PE exam, and this book is just great, very simply to understand, there are good examples and the theory behind it is just well explained. I would definitely recommend this book to whoever is looking for a refresh in steel design.

It's ok. One of those books "required" by your school to purchase. Still just ok. If you want to learn engineering well you will need to look elsewhere for books. I bought a collection of engineering books from the Philippines on my visit there. No collection of engineering books has ever topped those. Those books had a least 400 practice problems fully worked out with step-by-step instructions, with an introduction paragraph summarizing each section quickly and to the point. It's said how we have not been able to adopt those books in our universities. This book is just that - ok to get by.

Best Steel Book
this is the best steel book i have used for basic steel design. It covers both the LRFD and ASD design which is great for the transition to LRFD.

Needs better illustrations
Good book but could have used some better illustrations. I found it a little boring even though it is an interesting topic. I think this is due to the lack of color in the illustrations. However the content of the book is well put together.Regarding the actual book: It is a small size and nice to hold. The cover is sturdy and stiff. Not too heavy.
