How to Remove any smell from a Car:
Gas Method:

Close all doors and windows.
Add 20 to 25 tablets to about 1 to 2 oz of water in a small plastic/glass container.
Do not breathe the gas / vapor coming out, leave the vehicle as soon as possible. It is advised to wear a mask. 
For larger SUV or Semi Cabins, you can place one container in front and another one in the back / cargo area.
Leave the chlorine dioxide gas 30 minutes to a few hours (the longer the better, like overnight is perfect).
At the end of the process it is recommended to run the Fan or Air Conditioning at Maximum with Air Recirculation On for 20 minutes.
Open all doors and Air out for another 20 minutes or until you have no more smell of chlorine dioxide.

How to Remove any smell from a Room / Building:

The dosage will mainly depend on the type of smell (smoke smell being the strongest) but also on the amount of humidity in the room. The higher the humidity the better chlorine dioxide works.

As a rule of thumb, 1 bag of 500 grams covers about 500 square feet.

Gas Method:

Close all outside doors, windows, shades, curtains (no sunlight should enter the room/house/building), aeration/ventilation.
If you can not close the ventilation, seal it with tape.
Leave the inside closet/bathroom door opened.
Remove any pets and plants.
Place a recipient like a plastic bucket in the middle of the room with about 1 quart / 1 liter of water.
Add the tablets in the water.
The regular dosage is 250 tablets (250 grams/half a bag) for 1 quart / 1 liter of water.
250 tablets (250 grams/half a bag) will cover about 250 square feet. 
If your room is 1000 square feet, place 4 buckets equally in the room, and in each bucket add 250 tablets in 1 quart of water. 
Do not breathe the gas coming out, you can also wear a mask or a gas mask better. Leave the rooms asap, and close the door behind you.
Chlorine Dioxide Gas is generated immediately and you do not need aerators/ventilators/pumps/airstones to disperse the gas…
Close the door (you can also seal the door with tape, so chlorine dioxide smell does not spread in other parts of your home). Leave the clo2 gas for 24 hours or more depending on the severity.
Open all doors, windows, ventilation to air-out. It could be from 30 minutes to a few hours depending on the ventilation. Basements usually need 6 hours to air out due to lack of ventilation and windows.
Before re-occupying the room, if you smell a chlorine-like odor, continue to air-out the room.
ClO2 gas application does not require any rinsing or wiping. Simply air out the confined space  before re-occupying it.

Can this be used in the winter in a un heated house?

Yes, the house I used it in had no heat. I did this in the early fall before we closed it up and will probaly do it in the spring.

What is the shelf life?

Unopened bags have a shelf life of 4 to 5 years. Once you open the bag, it is best to keep it inside an airtight boxe as the tablets are very sensitive to humidity, best is to use within 30 days.

can this be used in a room with furnaces?
