Wonderful!! I don't like subtitles, many languages in this, I like to play games while watching, however after a few times of backing up I really paid attention so I could read everything. For me a good show is when I watch it and I don't pay attention to the acting, if I pay attention to even only person then it's difficult to just enjoy it and if too many bye bye. How is it that one bad actor is allowed to be in the show let alone continue, write them out. If one bad acting if more bad director?

After binge-watching the The Witcher on Netflix, my urge for more medieval theme was heightened. I was fortunate to find this movie in Amazon Prime which sated my craving. It entailed the life of Arn...how had he become part of the crusade. This movie was executed well. With my unawareness, the books of this movie had been sitting on my book shelf for quite sometime in the to-be-read (TBR) section. LOL! Definitely recommending this movie if you don’t mind reading subtitles when the actors are speaking in Swedish sometimes.

Swedish Medieval Templar Crusade battles movie. Arn Magnusson is raised as a Swedish monk but also develops a talent for the sword. He is eventually a Knight Templar sent on the Crusades where he shows himself as a great tactician as well. There are several different languages spoken in the film such as Swedish, English, Latin, French, and Arabic. Basically the movie is European Christians occupying and defending Jerusalem and fighting a war against Arab Muslims. In the name of each of their gods both armies slaughter each other several times fighting over the Holy Land. Eventually the Arabs destroy the Europeans and conquer Jerusalem. Arn survives and goes back home only to have to defend his home kingdom from another neighboring lord trying to take power over the throne. Movie is made fairly well for what it is. While the Crusades, Templars, and battles for Jerusalem between Arab Muslams and European Christians are a real part of history, Arn Magnusson is a fictional made up character. The movie is based off of fictional book series "The Crusades" trilogy by Jan Guillou. Have seen this a couple times. Watched digital streaming with Prime Video.

Anyone finding flaws in this movie is either overthinking, or delving too deep. was it a miniseries? who cares, approach this film like anything in life, with an open mind and a respect for the effort to portray a story that is firmly embedded in our history. Doesnt matter how you feel about anything, doesnt matter where the story comes from or how it could have better portrayed anything, only matters that it was well presented, with good acting and a great story line, anything other than that is searching for a flaw.

A wonderful tale of man's best and worst attributes, and love's ability to conquer all. There are worst things than dying. Dying badly be among them. That is not in this movie. I wish, no pray, people like these would rise in America. We exist, although silent in numbers. It might just bring hope to a hopeless future. Bless this fairy tale! PS: For those paranoid among you, I speak to those who would vote, wake up, and pay attention!! That is our solution. That is our salvation. God pray we choose it soon.

I will not play on vidio systems sold in the USA market. It states in the beginning that it can only be played on European systems and then shuts down. I can't understand why you sold this to me when you must have known that the import would not work in the USA.Please advise what can be done to play this vidio on my VIZIO 3D player system.Duane Hoerneman

This movie was a surprise. It's a beautifully told, shot, and acted movie about a young Swede who loses his love and must fight in the crusades, where he befriends the great Arab leader Saladdin before returning to battle his family's enemies. Terrific acting. Completely engrossing. Mesmerizing. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Featuring the great Bibi Andersson as a bitter abbess. It's also a great love story. A great epic.

Good acting, good direction, but as with most movies depicting this era, it is unrealistic. That drives me crazy. Little is known about the Templars, and for good reason. This period was FAR from romantic for one, and Templars NEVER traveled alone. I'm just not the type of viewer who has to have everything dressed up and clean. I prefer the truth.

Il film presenta una trama interessante, o quanto meno curiosa, per gli appassionati di film sul medioevo. Narra infatti le vicende di un cavaliere templare proveniente dalla Svezia medievale, Arn Magnusson, sulla base della trilogia di libri di Jan Guillou. La trama è ben più che dignitosa, e va ad intersecare le vicende personali di Arn con le convulsioni politiche della Svezia dell'ix secolo, in preda a lotte di clan e non ancora unificata, e con due battaglie fondamentali del reame cristiano in Terrasanta, nel momento in cui Salah Ad Din (il famoso Saladino) sta per riconquistare Gerusalemme. Il film è ben girato, con una regia ben attenta e coerente, ed una produzione che non ha lesinato sui mezzi: le scene di battaglia sono alla pari con quelle di colossi holliwoodiani come "Le Crociate". Unico neo, la mancanza del doppiaggio in italiano, anche se personalmente lo sono gustato anche maggiormente in originale (in inglese, svedese e arabo) con i sottotitoli inglesi.Attori svedesi di primo piano all'opera, tra cui spicca Stellan Skarsgård, noto principalmente per avere interpretato Lewis Tappan in Amistad (1996), il prof. Gerald Lambeu in Will Hunting - Genio ribelle (1997), Cedric in King Arthur (2004), e in particolar modo per il personaggio di Sputafuoco Bill Turner nella saga di Pirati dei Caraibi e lo scienziato Erik Selvig nel Marvel Cinematic Universe.

La production cinématographique "nordique" m'intéresse vraiment de plus en plus. Après les films de guerre, d'espionnage, de policiers, ici, j'ai découvert avec joie et intérêt, une magnifique fresque moyenâgeuse se déroulant au temps des croisades avec un héros originaire d'un royaume qui deviendra plus tard la Suède. Vous allez peut-être me dire que je suis en retard, mais c'est ainsi, pour moi cela est nouveau. Le film est long (en fait, il y en a deux), environ 3h30. Mais cette épopée chevaleresque est dépeinte avec tellement de talent et d'habilité, avec une recherche d'esthétisme constante dans les plans photos, que ce spectacle a ravi mes yeux. L'histoire de ARN Chevalier du Temple, parti faire la guerre en Terre Sainte pour expier sa faute d'avoir séduit en dehors du mariage la fille d'un dignitaire d'un clan adverse, est très belle. Avec beaucoup de romantisme et avec juste ce qu'il faut en scènes de batailles, en hémoglobine et en diverses mutilations, avec une grande sensibilité dans la description des sentiments, des amitiés et des fraternités, notamment avec une approche intéressante du respect possible entre "ennemis" de bonnes compositions, cette épopée m'a vraiment emmené dans un superbe voyage dans le temps, qui fait que j'ai passé une excellente soirée cinéma, longue et courte à la fois. Le Blu-Ray valorise le rendu du film avec la qualité audiovisuelle de très bonne facture. ARN va beaucoup souffrir, mais ce Chevalier a un destin pour son peuple qui dépasse largement sa simple existence d'Homme. C'est celui que Dieu lui aurait tracé. L'Amour de ARN pour la magnifique Cécilia sera maintes fois contrarié. Il leur faudra beaucoup de courage et de patience pour se retrouver avec toute cette adversité qui les entoure. Ils sont bons, ils sont beaux, quoi de mieux pour faire des envieux, des jaloux de leur bonheur, qui n'auront de cesse de tout entreprendre pour les détruire. J'aurais préféré une autre fin à cette histoire, mais c'est ainsi, les grands amours ne sont pas toujours les plus heureux.

La versión original dura algo mas de 4 horas y es una historia muy bien contada con excelente fotografía y ambientación. Una de mis favoritas del cine escandinavo y de las mejores de tema medieval. Lamentablemente, esta es una versión recortada a 128 minutos en la que han destripado la historia hasta hacerla irreconocible. Han logrado dejarla con la duración comercial clásica de poco mas de dos horas, pero al precio de convertirla en un tranque imperdonable. Debería estar prohibido hacer este tipo de cosas, me ha supuesto un gasto inútil y una decepción. Si se manejan bien con el inglés, la pueden conseguir en metraje original en ese idioma.
