Don't use to prove dead with the Fieldsense.
To prove dead you need a simple device that does that job, and nothing else. This is a little more complex, so it shouldn't be used to prove dead. I was sending this item back to Amazon because of a mix up, but decided not to, I'd keep it, the T6-600, along with my T5-1000 that I had also recently ordered. The T6-600 has all functions of the T5-1000 plus a few more. I've tested the accuracy of the Fieldsense on the T6-600. Measuring a voltage of 244 volts traditionally (I'm in the UK), the Fieldsense read 242 volts. I'm not sure that this extra feature will be used often but for an extra £25.00 over the T5-1000, I thought it a worthwhile addition, but I'm sure there will be occasions where I will be glad of its purchase. It's deeper, fatter than the T5-1000 and so will not easily fit into the Fluke waist pouch. It takes one heck of an effort to remove it. So, don't go wasting money on a Fluke pouch for this meter, T6-600, because in practice it is a waste of time, despite what Fluke may say of its compatibility with the pouch. The pouch is designed for the slimmer T5-1000.The most important thing to remember using the Fieldsense is to put the black probe back into its holder on the rear of the meter and push it properly home; and to ground the device with your finger. If you do not, the voltage appears all over the place. I was getting readings of 500-650 volts on a 240 supply. But, used properly it is accurate. It has a backlight which is sometimes useful, the T5-1000 doesn't. Would I purchase it again? If the difference is only £25, then maybe.
