It is authentic.
I would say for warmth it is a pretty thin fabric so wearing it out in the snow or winter time is out of the question but it is easy to wash. It's thin to let your head breathe so it's not like a hat that in cases all the body heat to your head it allows heat to escape through the cloth but the braid rope was too small for my head and I wear an extra large hat so it's perfect if you have a small head but I had to end up tying the headdress around kind of like a do-rag string to keep it on my head. I still wear it to this day
