There is no auto-stop feature on the Sony M-455P micro-cassette recorder, but it's runs great. Bought two of them as it seems they're disappearing from the marketplace and both of them run like troopers. Hope this helps.

Yes. That is the battery light. It comes on when using batteries and when recording, playing back, fast forwarding, or rewinding.
