I used this for my Appalachian trail thru hike
I bought this the last couple days before the start of my thru hike last year at this time and I am glad that I did. I was planning on using a solid foam pad like a z-lite but I am glad I bought this. It is lightweight, easy and quick to fill up (maybe 13 breathes for me) and pretty comfortable. I did notice that it would be a little deflated upon the morning but not much maybe half a breath. I figured it was for the temp difference but klymit said it shouldn't do that. The duration on this pad is really good. I hike the AT with my dog and she would sleep on it as well and her nails never did any damage to it. I eventually got a hole in it but that was my fault, I laid it on a pavilion floor without laying any ground sheet down. I tried patching it but it never was the same. It was also at the time of having problems with the valve, it broke off when I would try to pull it open to inflate. I could still put the cap on and it would retain air but with that and the hole I would wake up at night to have to reinflate it. After about a week or two of this I emailed klymit about the problem and they said since I am in the middle of my thru hike, they would send me another mattress instead of the usual procedure of sending my current one back to have it fixed. They sent it to a trail town and I was so grateful to be able to sleep the night through without having to get up and reinflate. Really nice customer service and product. I have been using this mattress still, like 4 days of the week. I work out of town and camp usually and this has been holding up nicely. A little worried about the valve, but I can send it back to klymit to have it fixed if that day does come. The stuff sack isn't the best and will break down over time. But I have sewn the bottom and all seems to be going well. Overall, I would give this a 4.5 but since the customer service is outstanding they earned the 5 stars

Best backcountry sleeping surface you could ask for
I admit that I haven't tried the Therm-a-Rest NeoAirs, but I just can't imagine how they could justify a price nearly double that of the Klymit Insulated Static V. This pad weighs in at just a hair over one pound, packs down to the size of a water bottle, and is by far the most comfortable sleeping pad I've ever had the pleasure to rest my trail-weary bones upon. Tack on an impressive 4.4 r-value, and I'm completely sold.I'm a pretty big guy (6' 3", ~250 lbs), a side-sleeper, and I have a bad back, so getting a comfortable sleep in a tent is both difficult and very important for me. I've used a couple of light self-inflating pads, a classic foam roll, and even a thick and heavy self inflating pad from Cabella's that was clearly not intended for backpacking. None of them compare to the comfort of the Static V. I would sleep on this pad instead of most full-sized air mattresses I've used. It's better than a couch. The only thing it can't stand up to is an actual bed.I find setup of this pad to be quite easy. The valve can be a bit tricky to open (twist counter-clockwise about a quarter-turn, then pull out), but once that's done just 8-10 full, slow breaths fill it up quite well. Packing it up is pretty easy as well. The method I've settled on is folding the pad in half first and rolling it up to push out most of the air. Once that's done, I unroll the pad, fold it into quarter-width and roll it up again to push out the rest of the air. Then it's ready to close up the valve and go right in the stuff sack. The only potential negative I've noticed from this pad is that it made some loud noises the first time I filled it up and put some weight on it. By the sound of it, it seemed to be caused by air rushing between the chambers when my weight shifted. However, I'm happy to say that after that first use the noises became much less frequent, and now I have to actively try to get it to exhibit that behavior. I'm attributing it to a breaking-in period, but I suppose it's possible that others will find that more annoying.

passable
I bought these for my grandsons but I have used them and find them adequate and the grandsons like them. I have several pads to compare them to the therorest xlite and xtherm being my go to pads and to be honest I have never had a pad that slept really well but the thermorest pads are a slight improvement so the deciding factor should be how often will you use it and how far will you carry it on your back/ if not often it may be a good place to save some serious coin and still stay warm and somewhat comfortable
