Sex, mystery and magic, all wrapped in a neat Regency package
A brilliantly fun romp through Regency England, this is like Bridgerton crossed with Sherlock Holmes. Really enjoyed it!

A fast paced regency mystery with a touch of romance.
The 2 main protagonists move from drama to drama as they uncover some of the less gentrified aspects of Georgian society. This was a really fun read, and I particularly warmed to the plucky heroine as she went on her mission to discover the reason for her brother's murder and bring his killer to justice.

Secret societies and class divides
One More Chapter always publishes such enteraining novels - 'The Persephone Code' by Julia Golding. And when I read the book blurb I was instantly intrigued:historical fictionsecret societiesmysterious murderswhat more could I ask for?Our story commences in 1812 with a gruesome murder and the pace moves quickly onward, without letting up for a moment. The victim of this murder is one, Antony Pennington and Dr Jacob Sandys, is tasked with the unpleasant role of breaking the news to Pennington's half-sister Dora. It's not long before Jacob and Dora find themselves in the middle of a bizarre conspiracy, with threats coming from all sides as they endeavour to find Antony's last message to his sister. This is a roller-coaster ride with plenty of twists and a great pairing in our two protagonists - I can definitely see them working together in the future.

Gripping regency mystery romance
A great murder mystery set in the regency period. I really enjoyed Dora and Jacob’s relationship, Dora is such a strong and witty heroine. I was frustrated at Jacob at times, but he redeemed himself in the end (I won’t say any more as I don’t want to leave spoilers). I look forward to seeing more of the detective duo in any future books. The plot kept me hooked and I ended up reading it in one sitting to find out where Anthony’s hidden item was. As an added bonus, I was pleasantly surprised at the education side of this book - learnt more about the politics and geography of the area from the period. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a gripping murder mystery with romantic suspense!

A great fun to read!
When Anthony Pennington, Hades of the Hell Fire Club is murdered, he leaves something behind, hidden somewhere to be found by his sister.Dora Fitz-Pennington and Dr Jacob Sandys set about solving the riddle left by Dora's brother and in doing so get embroiled in a political tug of war between the two powerful secret societies - the Hellfire Club and The Illuminati. There's a lot of politics going on in this book, but at it's heart it's a historical adventure with a strong romantic thread. Dora is clever and resourceful, if a little impulsive. Jacob starts off taciturn and comes out of his shell as the story unfolds. There's a wild adventure that goes all over England. It's a rollicking good adventure and lovely romance. It was great fun to read!I received an advance review copy from Netgalley, this is my honest review.

Regency Murder mystery- what's not to like?
Julia Golding wrires a cracking story in any genre and her new venture into Regency Murder Mystery is no different -with the action starting right from the first line. An intriguingly compromised hero and an independent actress team up to solve a murder that soon threatens their own lives. Highly recommended!

Dora and Jacob
4 1/2 stars!Wow, what a wild ride this was! Murder, satanism, secret societies (Hell Fire Club and Illuminati), conspiracy, politics— just to mention a few.Dora is trying to solve her brother's murder and Jacob, an ex-army officer with secrets in his past, becomes her ally. But the more clues they discover, the more dangerous it becomes for both of them. With so much evil at work from more than one source, Dora and Jacob must be at their best, despite the distraction their growing friendship and attraction bring.I couldn't put down this one! With so much at stake, it just kept me hooked till the ending. Highly recommend!I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
