Da macht man nichts falsch.

As I like to tinker, and having read a review highlighting the improvement utilizing the E30II in a similar set-up to mine, I snagged the Topping E30 II DAC to pair with my Euphony Summus dual PC—a fancy music streamer/server that’s an exceptional piece of kit in its own right. I’ve been using this combo for a few months now, and I’m blown away by how clear this little DAC sounds, especially with DSD files. That said, it’s not perfect—the remote is junk, and the battery power option is a blessing and a curse. First off, the sound quality is unreal for $149. Hooked up to the Summus via USB, I played some upsampled DSD64 tracks and there was a definite improvement over just the endpoint in the dual configuration being fed into my receiver with DSP applied. Not enough to claim some audiophile nirvana, but had I been able to A/B test it prior, it might've saved me a considerable chunk of change. Now, the downsides. The remote is awful. It’s this flimsy plastic thing that is prime Topping, meaning it barely works unless pointing dead-on at the DAC. Switching inputs or filters (it’s got six PCM and two DSD options) is a hassle, and I gave up using it after a day—not that it really mattered considering it was just being used for DSD duties. Overall, this DAC is a steal for (not just) budget folks who love DSD and have a solid source like the Summus feeding it. The audio clarity is top-notch—way beyond what I expected—and it’s a nicely compact box. The remote’s standard for Topping - a bit of a dud unless you're right in front of it, and I'm going to have to find a better battery. But if you’re after clean, detailed sound without spending a fortune, the E30 II is a winner. Just plan to skip the remote and keep a charger handy!

I have owned and used extensively the Topping e30ii for 8 months now. Don’t let the price and comments like “entry level” mislead you. It is a high quality DAC delivering musical, rhythmic, clean sound with good body and a decent soundstage. I have always enjoyed music played through good quality equipment. I listen to a number of genres - classical, vocal (opera and pop), percussion (I love drum music) and jazz. My equipment includes NAD M51 dac (US$2,000), Topping A90D, Krell amplifier and top of line KEF tower speakers and Sennheiser HD600, amongst others. The Topping e30ii (coupled with Topping L30 (older model) is for bedtime listening, placed on my night table. I am enjoying the Topping e30ii very much. When I purchased the Topping A90D, their top of the line headphone amplifier (coupled with my NAD M51), I realized that Topping engineers knew how to make top quality hi-res equipment. I am not disappointed with the E30ii dac. The e30ii did not sound good initially. After 12 hours of use the sound improved significantly. Another 60 hours of use brought out the best. So be patient. Highly recommended.

I got this as an upgrade to the internal DAC of my Bluesound Node. And it certainly delivered. It has a really clean and balanced sound. I’ve listened to DACs that cost three times the amount of this one. It’s just as good, if not better. The remote is handy too. And the usual Topping display is there.
