Q: what kind of filter is used

Any standard 10" replacement cartridge can be used with this filter housing. The "Frequently Bought Together" section has a sample of filters available. I use a sentiment cartridge ahead of a charcoal cartridge (in 2 separate filter housings) to remove particulates and odors from my water. Works very well.

Q: What filters does this use?

It uses the standard 10 inch filters that are pretty much universally available including Dupont, Culligan, Micronex, and many others.

Q: I have limited access to my plumbing. Is it safe to install this off of my water heater?

Do not install on Hot output of the heater. You don't want hot water going into filters. In my opinion, even installing on the cold side of the hot water tank would be utilizing 50% of the benefit. The point of this system is to treat all water starting at the mainline. Otherwise, you could consider filtering only your drinking water—just a thought.

Q: how could be the sequence of filters in order to set it ?? how many of them?

I am on city water, we get lots of calcium scale. So I am using a calcium filter right after the meter (to keep scale out of all my pipes) then a carbon under sink filter for taste. I don't care if my boiler or toilet water tastes good, but want better taste out of the sink, dishwasher, ect.
