Q: Can i add a boxspring so that the bed can be higher?

I don't see any reason why you couldn't, but a boxspring plus a mattress will likely cover up a lot of the headboard. Plus you'd probably want to consider a blanket wide enough to drape down to cover the sides of the mattress plus the boxspring. If it helps, I'm 5'4" with a 14" mattress and I find the bed height to be perfect for me!

Q: What is the Height of the platform that the mattress sits on?

It's 12 inches from the floor when assembled (this is for the queen size that I have, don't know if it's the same for all the sizes)
