Q: Are these stakes ideal for helping prop up wooden pallets as a compost bin?

I should think they're ideal for that job; I used mine to put a chicken wire fence around a pond and they are good quality.

Q: I need to use to attach tarpaulin to. Would they be strong enough?

Totally depends on how well you secure them in the ground and where you live. Ours came down in the first winter storm Scotland Central belt. We then secured them to the fence. They were supporting new trees so it all depends on the weight and force that they will need to withstand. They are not bad quality though but you need to assess yourself.

Q: Could I use these to support a large hibiscus plant?

I would give it a go. They are farely robust. I used them to contruct a wire fenced compost heap. They did the job.
