SwitchBot Smart Automatic Curtain Opener - Bluetooth Remote Control with App/Timer, Upgraded Performance Motor, Add SwitchBot Hub to Make it Work with Alexa, Google Home, HomeKit(Curtain 3, U Rail)

This is a very easy to set up and operate curtain automation solution which is ideal for voice control and scheduling with home automation. Only one opener is supplied in the pack (I wasn’t entirely sure when buying it but thought this was the case) so you’ll need to buy two if you have centrally opening curtains but this pack is ideal if you just have one curtain at the window. Very useful for inaccessible windows, those needing scheduling to automate their homes and very helpful for those with disabilities. Installation was very easy requiring no tools and only 5 minutes from start to end of the setup. The online video manuals are great and make it very easy to get going quickly. Not many “smart” things setup this fast and without any issues! The app guides you through calibration with two different options which allow you to either leave the app to work it out or you can set your own limits to get the curtain positioned exactly how you would like it to be when open and closed which was very handy. Despite being connected you can physically initiate closing by pulling for about 5cm and it then takes over, alternatively you can voice control, operate via app or scheduling either in the switchbot app or by using your preferred automation app such as Alexa. It is virtually invisible to the room once installed and hangs behind the curtain. I’ve knocked one star off because it is a bit noisier than I would have liked (my Somfy curtain automation is quieter) and also the Switchbot Curtain Rod 3 takes a little while longer than other automated controls to begin after voice control. However, neither of these are insurmountable issues and they wouldn’t stop me from buying more Switchbot curtain openers to do other windows in my home. This is an excellent product which gives the ability to automate and independently control your curtain opening without needing tools or tradesmen to fit and setup so can offer a significant saving over the dedicated automated curtain rails which are available.

I bought these on a whim during Prime week. They arrived really quickly, as usual for Amazon and I started setting them up straight away. It's probably me, but I didn't realise that I needed two units, as my curtains open out from the centre to the sides. Whoops! Ordered another one and it also arrived quickly. Once I got over that minor hurdle, I started setup. I like that there's a choice between either a video setup guide or a set of images, so tried the video and it was straightforward and easy to follow - until I noticed that I was setting them up backwards - went back a few steps and rectified the problem. It looks much better set up correctly *behind* the curtains... Again, user error here :-) So now that they're installed, the calibration was quick - I adjusted the magnets a few times to get the curtains to close as much as possible. Looks like I'll still need to close them manually the last tiny bit at the bottom, but I really bought them for opening the curtains in the morning, to help me wake up more naturally, so this isn't a deal breaker. They work perfectly, and are intuitative to use. My curtains are heavy and it's strong enought to pull them without any issues. The units themselves are very solidly built, and grip the curtain pole really well. I've messed about with them quite a bit and the battery level hasn't budged - I also really like that they're USB C. I use plenty of Switchbot products, so am familiar with the app already, and I can fit them into other automated routines I have. I'm just waiting on my projector to arrive so I can have a mini movie night in bed, with the lights fading down, the curtains closing and the projector switching on! So far, I'm pretty happy with everything, and although they're not cheap, they feel like they're going to last a long time due to the build quality. Can recommend!

I purchased a couple of these for my lounge curtains. Setup was relatively straightforward using the video setup guide. I now have my curtains open first thing in the morning in quiet mode so as not to spook my dog - in this mode they operate very slowly but completely silently so is ideal if you're planning on using them in the bedroom. I also have them scheduled to close at sunset but I can also control them using my voice via my Google Home Smart speaker or Amazon Echo. I can also operate them anywhere in the world which is handy if you want to give the impression someone is at home whilst on holiday. Build quality is excellent. They come with multiple different attachments to suit different types of curtains. They are powered by built in batteries than can be charged via USB-C. The motor is quite noisy in the normal operating mode, it almost sounds like a screeching R2D2 which is the only reason I've docked it 1* because of this and also because of the response time between when using a smart speaker to operate it but other than those 2 minor points, they are really great smart automatic curtain openers.

I corrected my previous review. It's very important to install correct rubber wheels and noise become less and less need for recalibration. Overall very good product. Always stable connection and works great with Alexa

He comprado dos unidades para el dormitorio y la verdad es que me han encantado. El dispositivo tiene muy buena calidad y un diseño pensado para que pase desapercibido. Incluso con cortinas semitransparentes apenas se nota, porque se difumina bastante bien. Aunque mi barra de cortina tiene un pequeño desnivel, los dispositivos tienen potencia de sobra y pasan por ese bache sin ningún problema. Además, vienen con varios accesorios muy útiles para adaptarse a diferentes tipos de cortinas y que ayudan a que, al abrirse, las ondas queden de forma muy natural y estética. La app es muy fácil de usar y me ha sorprendido lo práctico que es poder elegir cuánto abrir la cortina, desde un palmo hasta la mitad o al 100%, según me apetezca. Y sin duda, lo mejor es que se integra con Alexa, lo que para mí es imprescindible. De momento los probé en el dormitorio, pero la idea es usarlos en el comedor, donde estoy montando un nuevo rincón para ver películas con cortinas opacas y una barra nueva. En resumen, un producto muy práctico, potente y fácil de instalar, totalmente recomendable.

Requiere un hub que se vende por separado para integrarlo a Alexa, sino sólo se puede usar mediante su app. Es demasiado grande/grueso por lo que debe haber bastante espacio entre la pared y el riel de la cortina para que no se atore.
