Nick and Tesla's High Voltage Danger Lab tells the story of two kids (Nick and Tesla) who spend the summer with their uncle, Newt Galileo Holt (this book is peppered with delightful homages to famous scientists). Newt has pressure sensor doormats that ring his doorbell, a self starting and moving lawn mower, and an insane lab with rocket gear, electronics, machines, chemistry equipment, petri dishes, and telescopes in all arrays of assortment, all over the place!After an eventful beginning with a botched science experiment, the uncle leaves to take a shower, telling the kids, "don't touch this, DEFINITELY don't touch that, this will melt a hole through the floor, and this will cause an explosion if you let these two mix. Otherwise, GO NUTS!"This book is such a fun read, both my daughter and I took turns reading and couldn't stop until we had finished! When we did, it was off to our own lab to construct some of the awesome projects that are written about inside! The instructions were easy to follow, the science behind the projects nicely explained, and the level of fun was through the roof. We built a mentos and diet coke powered rocket kitty, and have been racing them with the neighborhoods kids ever since!This book is AWESOME. It's fun, motivating, and totally filled with science. It's still our favorite science book for kids!

I can hardly describe how much my son loves this book.
My 3rd grader read this book in a day, and then read it again the next day. There are a few words here and there that are a little advanced for him, but he really loves science and building things and he absolutely devoured this book. We have built most, if not all, of the projects that were included. Now that we are into the series, I have stocked a "lab" for him with motors, sensors, battery cases, and other random Radio Shack goods so he can be prepared. He talks about Science Bob as if they are buddies, and has sent him fan mail with idea for successive books. The really unfortunate result of him loving this book so much is that now practically every other book he has tried reading disappoints him (nothing cool to build). We are anxiously waiting for the next book to be released!

The whole series is cool. I hope this goes on the big screen!

Fun for kids
Rather elementary but action filled plot that young kids will love. Bad guys create tension but not too scary. Kids are empowered and brave and outsmart the villains. Not offensive, which as a mom I appreciate! Gadget instructions are a nice and creative touch.

At first i wasn't sure that my 9 year old grandson would like this because he's more into Minecraft. but I wanted him to actually read a book and since he has shown an interest in science I thought we'd give it a try. He loved it and also because his granddad helped to build the rocket with him which worked great! Big success for all of us!

Grandson Tested
Although this was a gift and not read by an adult, the gifted LOVED it. His mother has not yet said he has tried to emulate Nick and Tesla, but I am sure, knowing him, that this is not far behind. Perhaps the biggest fear is his younger brother, reading and testing all the events. Fortunately, he has a few years to go before he's ready for this! Fun book for a young person.

FUN book
Although my niece is carefully limiting her boys' experiments, the guys like the book and so do I. Good for supervised experiments. I really want to encourage all of my nephews and nieces to develop an interest in science. These experiments show them that they can learn and have fun at the same time.

My 9 yr old loves these books!
Bought for my 9 year old - he absolutely loves this series. He couldn't wait for the next one to come out. He read the newest one in ONE DAY! He highly recommends it :)

Eine spannende Geschichte mit 4 interessanten Experimenten.Schade nur, dass es noch keine deutsche Übersetzung gibt. Wenn meine Kinder genug Englisch können, sind sie vermutlich aus dem Experimentieralter entwachsen.
