Great for College students or people new to ITSec
I’ll lay it out straight. This is a great book. However, if you’re a working IT Professional, youd be best to steer clear of it. It’s very thorough, but wordy as a result, and the author tends to go off on professional tangents. People already familiar with the material will find this frustrating as it reads like a college textbook as opposed to a technical guide. If you just want a study guide, I recommend examcram for security+. If you are new to the field and/or a college student looking to get some certs in over the summer and you have limited exposure to ITSec, this is the book for you. If you read it front to back, you can easily skip your intro to network security course, or get an easy A. It’s very well written, and very thourough.

Way wordy
While it does cover the test material, the book is WAY too wordy. This is supposed to be a technical book, it needs to stick to the meat of the subject matter. Easily 200 pages could be stripped. All these side stories/details are a complete distraction.

OK but missing some key points and doesn't clarify what's important for the exam at times.
Security+ 501 is a new version of the exam and there's not many study guides out at the moment. I purchased 2 books and read this one completely. I found it to be lacking a few topics that were on the exam. The book doesn't do a good job of stressing key things you need to know for the exam. I found that I initially missed many important facts and only found out they were important after watching Professor Messer videos and looking at the other book I purchased.

Sufficient if you already have a decent grasp on basic security and network concepts.
The good news: This book was the only resource I used to prepare for the Security+ exam (SY0-501) and I passed on the first try.The bad news: I already had a considerable amount of network engineering experience, along with decent exposure to security concepts and best practices going into this, so your mileage may vary. If you're completely new to all of this stuff you're probably going to want more than just this book to prepare for the exam. Also be advised that the practice exam software included with the book does not accurately simulate what you are going to encounter on the real certification exam (the real exam has some drag and drop questions, configuration simulations, etc.), so be prepared for that.

Great Product! Great Info!
Great product. Still going thru it but very detailed and excellent information contained therein. How can I get word to the author? I have a couple of edits I would like to get to him/her.

Ótimos simulados
As melhores partes na minha opinião são as questões dos finais dos capítulos com suas explicações! Fiz minha prova de Security+ há 5 dias e passei. :-)
