Bought this as a white elephant gift since we have a 7 year old in the family and try to include her in the exchange. She brought this over on a cold winter day and it was so much fun! I love that there are ideas/examples of what to create on the shells on the outside of the box. We had so much fun thinking up how we wanted to decorate them. It says they are real shells but I think they are molded from clay-I could be wrong but there was thin, overhanging edges at the bottom of some of the larger shells. We decorated these to take to the cemetery and place on various headstones. These are water color paints so you'll need to spray with a clear coat if you plan on exposing to the elements. So many cute ideas - would be perfect for a wind chime etc.

They were gifts and the girls loved them.

My now 6 year old granddaughter loves this painting set. She went right to work making masterpieces. The paints were still usable & none of the shells were broken. I ordered another set of shells so we're all getting to paint! After she received her mermaid tail I've been tasked with putting them around the living room floor so the mermaid can find them. Her imagination is a thing of wonder. Nice craft idea highly recommend
