Q: Anyone know dimensions of assembled unit?

I dont know the exact dimensions, but it fit inside a 2'x4'x5' grow tent with a small bit of room to spare.

Q: what is the best size bucket/box to use for the water?

The larger the better, especially if this is going to be outside. If it heats up above 90 degrees, your plants roots are done cooking. Try to keep the water cool as possible. Use a plastic storage tote at least 20 gallons which could be found at Home Depot. Cover with insulation, or spray paint silver. Also you may want to spray paint the entire hydroponics unit a silver paint to prevent algae growth inside and to keep temperature rise to a minimum. If kept inside, you don’t need to do above and can use a 5 gallon container.

Q: What size is the pump tube?

It’s not very large however I have it set on the lowest setting and it pumps more than enough water to keep my plants alive.

Q: Do you need grow lights with this for indoor us?. I've seen one, more expensive, system that comes complete with lights above each row.

No. Inside or outside is fine. Near a window is best. A grow light will produce marginally faster growth. There are so many different types of hydroponics and mixes of fertilizers and other things. Remember cheaper is better. You can get fancy heat and humidity tents that add other beneficial gases and filtration also, but no need.
