This is a neat instrument. I got it for my 6 year old grandson, because he loves Link, from the Legend of Zelda, but my son-on-law, who is a band teacher, plays it more than my grandson!

I have 20+ years playing ocarinas and 10+ years teaching the instrument. I bought one of these for the purpose of testing the tuning and playability so I could share my findings with the online community.This ocarina is one of the best selling beginner ocarinas on Amazon, but I noticed there are many reviews saying it plays out of tune, while other customers report a positive experience.Using a tuner, I discovered that the ocarina I received plays in B Major, not C Major. If you try to use extra breath to force it to play in C, it will sound very out of tune and raspy. If you use the right amount of breath (playing in B), the tone is very nice throughout the entire range. I was able to get the lowest notes with the sub holes in tune pretty easily, and with a little extra back pressure, the highest notes sounded clear too.If you intend to play music with others or perform with accompaniment, it would probably be better to get an instrument that, in addition to having a nice tone, is also concert tuned, such as the Night by Noble plastic in C. Technically, you can play in any key, because the ocarina is fully chromatic, but a B Major tuning isn’t convenient most of the time.If you’re planning to play by yourself, the key doesn’t matter so much, so you’ll probably like it just fine. The book that comes with it has quite a few songs from the Zelda games and is easy to follow since it includes both tabs and standard notation.

This is a great little "instrument". My grandson is a fan of Link, and he just loves playing this. It was easy for him to learn.

Si piensas usar esto para aprender, te recomiendo Songbird Ocarina, esta tiene un sonido pésimo y no sirve para otra cosa que no sea ponerla en el estante aunque por su precio no se puede pedir más.

Good in looks only the notes are off and some don't even work it's painful to the ears but it looks good and yes I've tried playing super soft

He hasn't put it down since I gave it to him. I honestly thought it would be a piece of plastic that would hardly work but it is beautiful. It's a thick porcelain I'm guessing and is like a piccolo (for anyone who doesn't know it's a small flute)
