Engrossing and addictive
I was a little disappointed in season 2 of True Blood, mainly because the Maryann storyline annoyed me and I thought it was given too much dominance over the season....but I'm happy to say that season 3 erased all my concerns. It's such a great season! I loved the fact that Lafayete has a less traumatic season, for the most part, and that the Jason/Crystal story was handled in a believeable way (believeable for Jason, anyway).I especially loved the changes for Bill's character. You don't know what to believe about him (neither does Sookie) and Stephen Moyer plays both parts (good Bill and evil Bill) so well. Like a lot of women viewers, I've completely fallen in love with Eric and his storyline gave his character more depth and understanding. You realize why he is so distant/allouf/cold...he's had 1,000 years of dwelling on grief and vengence. And watching him interact with Pam made me feel so much for each character. He's her maker and she loves him, and you realize how deeply he feels for her, too. It's such a great way to make the audience understand the two characters. Plus I also loved Sookie trying to deal with her growing feelings for Eric...and, I'm not going to lie, watching Eric seduce Talbot was great (and hysterical). Alexander Skarsgard does such a great job and I can't wait to see the next season.I also hope that Tara has a less traumatic experience in season 4....the girl needs a break. Franklin's completely crazy trip makes Russel look like a kitten. The acting on this show is probably its greatest asset (OK and the fact that everyone on that show is ridiculously good looking doesn't hurt either) and it keeps getting better. If you liked the first two season, you'll like the third...if you were a little let down by season two, don't give up. Season three is the best yet!

A First
I usually like the books that a movie or tv series is based on more than the series itself. I enjoy the True Blood HBO series though, just as much as I do the books. They're different, as visual and literary interpretations of a story always are, but that's probably why I like the series so much. You don't just get a rehash of the books. You get a LOT more and then some. (Besides, Bill is sexier in the series than he is in the books. In the books, Eric's the sex god. Not that Eric doesn't smoke in the series...he does. Bill just gets me with those old-fashioned antebellum manners.)I've got the first two seasons on dvd and am waiting on the third season to arrive. I've already seen most of season three on HBO though...I do look forward to Sunday nights! And I am anticipating the fourth season of True Blood more than I've ever looked forward to the renewal of any series. Come to think of it, this is really the first tv series I've gotten hooked on.And I'm not usually fond of vampires or werewolves, etc. I'm more of a ghost gal. In True Blood though, it's not so much the supernatural element that intrigues me although the series does a doggone fine job of flashing up vamps and weres, etc. It's the interaction between the characters, the historical flashbacks, and the timeless themes -- love, hate, prejudice, revenge, jealousy -- that's fascinating. The down home humor is awesome, too.I could go on and on, but I won't. :-) I'll just end with the five star "I love it!" and hush.

Great
Although I cant say anything about how fast it got here since I ordered because I had it on order since Dec but it did arive very shortly after being released I think and I was credited the 5 dollars that it had dropped in price since than. This is one of the 1st things I have on Bly Ray due to me just getting a big high def TV and im very happy with it and can tell the differance right away,as usual Amazon is top notch and thats why many times when looking for somethng this is the 1st place I look.As far as the show itself I love season 3,just mad they killed off Lorena,I guess I could just say that I hope we get more of her in flashbacks but thats what I said after last season about Godric and so far he has showed up in so few flashbacks that they probably add up in total to about 4 min.O well,I just hope I get to see Alcide get killed off in season 4 (Hopefuly by Eric)and if im REALLY lucky I havent seen the last of Russel Edgington.Great show, great price and great service.Wasent my 1st and wont be my last Amazon purchace, hell I may go buy season 1 and 2 on Blu Ray to replace the once I have on regular DVD.If you love this show buy this, you wont be sorry.

Great show, continues to improve *NOTE Verified Purchase!
Please note this is a AMAZON Verified Purchase, today is release date. I have not watched all the discs yet, as I usually like to watch the whole season in a couple days, then eventually go back and watch with commentary tracks on, check out the extras etc. I saw the show when it broadcast, but no satellite or cable tops the sound and image quality of Blu-Ray, FACT. So I have a nice 40 inch LED 1080p screen with 5.1 surround and a 61 inch LED 1080P 5.1 surround. So with this experience it is like watching the season fresh plus extras. So here is my short release date review:HBO keeps raising the bar on there BLU-RAy releases, the transfer quality has improved considerably from Season 1. With crisper true blacks, better audio track balanced as many movies tend to boom! Then the dialog is too low. While I still think Time Warner's home release are better as they have a more sensible pop-up menu and better continuous play, HBO has improved. I still think HBO has the overall best image and sound quality, its some of the BLU-Ray features and layout that is a tad weak.I will update my PRODUCT review after I have watch all the Discs and extras. Also a little disappointed Amazon didn't have a special release like target did, with signature editions.
