Q: Are they painted or solid colored glass? I’m planning on making sea glass

This colorful vase is hand-painted.

Q: What are the actual widths of smallest areas in the openings? Not the lips. Some look .5 inches or smaller.

Four of them have very small openings , maybe about .5 in (about the size to fit a finger in). Those would be the 2 on the left, and the 2 in the center of the front row in the first picture. The others are about .75 - 1.0 inch. Very pretty vases, but most really just good for one or two stems

Q: Are the openings large enough to hold taper candles?

It depends on the thickness of the tapered candle. Generally, thicker candles cannot be placed, and thin cylindrical candles can be placed. Maximum facing width is 1.37 inches. Size chart for reference.
