So Much Easier
Currently using this in a 2024 Dodge Durango GT Plus with a Rexing V33 Plus dashboard cam.I know V33 comes with a cable that will allow me to power it directly through the fuse panel, but on the Durango, the fuse panel is under the hood. I did not want to have to worry about going through the firewall to connect it.That is when I found this power adaptor.I love that it can be switched from Always On to ACC Only. I have only had it installed for a day now, and I am leaving it at Always On until I see significant drain on the battery.

Works As Described With One Exception
Instead of shutting off after five minutes, it actually shuts off after about twenty minutes. That's not an issue, just noting the difference. I assume this device is measuring battery voltage to determine when the car is off or running. Charging voltage on a car battery is around 13.5 to 14v (when engine is running). When the car is turned off, the battery is no longer being charged and voltage is just the battery alone @ 12V. I think that's how it works.

Works well!
Does as advertised. I like how the dashcam stays powered on a few minutes after I shut my car down. Worth the purchase.

After I did this it worked perfect! It turns on when the car turns on
I purchased the Mini USB OBD Charger with On/Off Switch. This was the only solution I could find to having the device turn on and off with the car, instead of being on 24x7. I am using this for a Garmin GPS, so there's not a need for it to always be on.First, this is not compatible with a Garmin GPS out of the box. It will power the GPS and turn it on, but it goes into PC/Data mode, not map mode. There's a slight work around where you unplug the GPS really quick and plug it back in, but I didnt want to bother with that.I took the USB cable from my current charger, and cut the top off and cut the end of this one off and soldered it into this OBD adapter. After I did this it worked perfect! It turns on when the car turns on, and when I turn the car off, the GPS turns off 5 min later.I just wish It had Garmin GPS support out of the box, and that the auto off time was alot less, like 30 seconds or something.I would totally buy this again to hardwire a GPS in my other car, but PLEASE be aware it's not plug and play with Garmin. If you're cool with cutting 2 USB cords apart, and soldering them back together then by all means go for it :)

Day 1 review: Works in my 2010 Honda CR-V
Disclaimer: I've only had this item for one day and done an initial 15 minutes of testing.Another review mentions issues in their model year CR-V, so I was hesitant about this working. I'm glad I ordered it anyhow, because it works just fine (at least for my initial installation and testing) in my 2010 Honda CR-V.The flip switch does indeed control if its ACC ON or Always On, so set as your needs may vary. My dash cam has a standby G sensor battery so I don't like leaving it Always On, as it does present a potential to return to a discharged starter. I just tested which mode the flip switch activated: on is set to always on, the off is for acc on only.I needed this since my year model CR-V removes the DC barrel port and replaces with a built in USB port (carplay supported) for my dash electrical outlet. (It has a barrel port in the cargo area but that only helps for my rear-facing dash cam.) Using a splitter so I can charge phone + dash cam resulted in both being under-powered, so this solved my issue by splitting my dash cam to its own power without my having to tap into the fuse box.

Does not work with Ring Car Cam.
Purchased this to replace cable for Ring Car Cam that I broke while switching from 2022 Tacoma to new 2024 Tacoma. It did not work, so I returned it. I tried another brand (Universal OBD to USB-C Type-C 12V Output Power Cable Compatable for Ring Car Cam Dash), which did work.

Powers my dash cam
I had issues powering my dash cam off a fuse tap. But this is a much better solution. It has been trouble free.

Works well but does not fit well in my 2007 Volkswagen
Great quality product and does work as described. However this does not fit well in my 2007 Volkswagen GTI. The cable feeds out on the right side of the connector which makes this a very tight fit in my car’s ODB port opening. I had to push the connector in very hard to supply power, bending the cable quite a bit. This has me concerned the cable may be damaged if need to remove for access to the ODB port for diagnostic scans/emissions testings in future. In the photos I compare this connector with a previous ODB connector with no fit issues. In my previous connector, the cable fed out of the ‘back’ of the device.I do plan to keep this device because it is still ideal for my camera/setup and installation. However before you purchase this cable, check the port opening in your vehicle to make sure there is enough clearance on the side for the cable to properly feed through the port opening.
