Excellent product, great value for money.
I have never been alone in a room with a saxophone until now. I have always fancied i could, and should play one. Maybe one day I'll be able to. But just not yet. This instrument is very well made, it appears to be just what I needed and more. In fact this instrument is the work of Satan. Fantastic value for money this sax has rave reviews all over the net. Why then can I not play it ? The saxophone was devised to be easy to play due to its logical fingering patterns. Some would say intuitive fingering patterns. But not me. I can make musical notes. Some musical notes. But not two consecutively. And not the same note twice. Maybe I should practice more. My family say no, no, please practice a little less if you can please. Don't strain yourself, think of your health if not yourself then think of others. This in short is an excellent product and i am sure you will be pleased with it if you're is as well made as mine. It's just not for me.

Good sounds, great for beginners
This saxophone looks great! It is fantastic value for money, and really good for beginners to start to learn saxophone. The mouth piece is okay, I did buy another one anyway, getting a yamaha mouthpiece, but the one the saxophone comes with will do just fine.Another recommendation is a tooth cushion, but that is with any mouthpiece as it just makes it a bit more comfortable to use.The saxophone, comes in a nice small case, and has plenty of drying and polishing clothes to keep the saxophone in a clean and good condition.

Brilliant for what it is
For the money, this is a surprisingly good sax! The mouthpiece is not great and best replaced and the reeds are poor but everything else is great! It’s fun and functional and if people buy it and start making music they enjoy then as far as I’m concerned that’s great! The tone is fine and it plays well, although as I said I did replace the mouthpiece with a Yamaha. This sax comes with a lot of useful bits - pad saver and mute come to mind. This is a great buy if you’ve got a kid who wants to try the saxophone. Or if you’re an adult who wants to learn. And the brilliantly translated ‘Woodwind Instruction Book’, is almost worth the money itself for pure comedy value (although it is admittedly of little other benefit).

Everything is wrong about the sax.
I bought this Alto was just for an experiment of what a £200 sax can do, and it was awful, can’t even play a scale right....and corkscrew on the sax neck is too thick, can’t even fit an normal alto mouthpiece on, has to use a Tenor one..lol., to be far, overall I wasn’t expecting it will be a good sax but wasn’t expecting this bad either... basically is a joke, probably needs to do a lot of DIY on it to make it work as what an alto can do and how it should be.

Excellent walue
I am a novice saxophonist but play and own several other high end instruments. I must say i am distinctly impressed by the quality of this saxophone. Manufacturing so many moving parts for £225 and then including a case, an array of straps and cleaning cloths is an impressive feat of manufacturing. As with many things these days, the Chinese are really making strides in respect of quality. The keys all seem airtight, so far as i am able to tell. The worst part on this saxophone appears to me to be the ligature, which does seem rather cheap, but i have already upgraded to mouth piece to a yamaha 5c, and will follow suit with the ligature. The antique finish is pleasant, and the abalone keys are a nice touch. The only other thing i would complain about is that 'made by america' is engaved on both the case and instrument and this would seem an obvious translational error. This might embarrass an image conscious student musician or similar, but as an adult mostly playing in their bedroom my overriding sentiment is what exceptional value this purchase has been. The cork lubricant wasnt supplied as promised by the description, so i bought this for a few pounds, it is necessary - so get it to be safe. The tone of the instrument has the distinct raspy fog horn type of sound i was hoping for to supplement a few of my recordings with, on the lowest few notes at least, and the tone seems appropriate overall, albeit i dont have a good referrence for this besides personal taste. As to the playability and subtlety of this instrument i cannot meaningfully assess this, other than to say the distance by which keys need to be depressed feels predictable, if not as uniform as it might be, but not an issue to me, or others without any knowledge of the dynamics of playing instruments more generally. I do feel there is a tiny amount or torsional elasticity in some of the rod thingies, or perhaps that originates from the pads.... i would imagine the higher end saxophones use stiffer metals for finer control i guess... but certainly as a beginner this is essentially imperceptible during awful stilted renditions of Careless Whisper or attempts at improvising around a key that would be absurd in any band setting. If youre not aware, saxophones are very loud, the 'mute' included makes no difference whatsoever. All of yours neighbours several houses down will be able to hear you, with their windows shut, and you might consider investing in earplugs to protect your oen hearing.

Amazing value
Got this to see what you could really get for such a cheap saxophone, and I have to say that I am impressed, item came undamaged and I was surprised to find how free blowing it was , I have a ex 90 Kenilworth and that is not as easy to play as this was, it played up and down the full range and it sounded in tune in the octaves, the mouthpiece has a square bore similar to my seller mouthpiece just a bit larger and I found I could control this mouthpiece quite well, I will say the tone though ok was not as rich as my Kenilworth but considering the difference in price you can't really expect it to be, anyway I am going to keep it and use it for practice and get my more expensive one out now and again, I don't know how they can make a very playable instrument for the money, hiley recommended.
