Oh, my heart. Chloe Walsh, you have such a way with words, and I’m honestly devouring everything you write at this point. Another incredible read - another amazing series. If you’ve read the first two books, you already know Joe and Aiofe. But getting inside Joe’s head this time around was just heartbreaking. Walsh really knows how to create male characters that stick with you. I loved Johnny in the first two books, but Joe? He completely stole my heart in this one. And Aiofe - she’s exactly what Joe needs. Stubborn, sassy, a total smartass, and such a badass. I absolutely loved her. Walsh’s writing about children who’ve suffered from domestic abuse is so powerful. You can’t help but feel their pain, their anger, their sense of hopelessness. The way they seem resigned to their situation, believing nothing will ever change because there’s no escape - it was so real. Reading it left me feeling helpless and drained. It was suffocating to see what these kids go through at such a young age, how it shapes them, their mindset, their beliefs. It’s heartbreaking.💔 Joe’s journey was tough to read, but the love and connection between Aiofe and Joe gave me hope. Aiofe never gave up on him, even when he was at his lowest. She was always there, no matter what, and that’s exactly what Joe needed 1 to believe in himself and to believe that there’s still goodness, kindness, and love in the world.
