Does the loudness decrease evenly (log taper) or does it stay flat for most of the range and then abruptly go soft at the low end?

will this up the line level from my cell phone to my home amps RCA input to play thru my stereo speakers?

I have the output in mill-volts range, and want it to upped to line level which can be fed to the amp. Can this act as phono amp?

will the switch degrade the sonic? I'm using 10AWG speaker wire, and etc. will this be the weakest section of my audiophile system?
