This is a GREAT little drone...Another winner from Holy Stone! Incredible technology in a tiny, fun package! The description says that this is a drone for the kids...and so it is...even if the "kid" happens to be nearly sixty! It is easy to fly, with the altitude hold function which keeps it set at whatever height you want. Headless mode is good for new pilots; you don't have to pay much attention to which way the drone is headed so forward is always away from you and back is always toward you, right is always right and left is always left. (One caveat to that...once the drone is paired to the transmitter at the beginning of each flight, don't move or turn around, and always keep the drone in front of you, in your field of vision.) Once you've got the flight mechanics mastered in Headless mode, you can free yourself by turning that feature off. Now you can move around, turn in circles and fly your drone anywhere, but you have to keep track of which way the "nose" of the drone is headed. That is not too hard, because the nose has a bright white LED headlight, and red and blue LED's underneath,on the sides. You just have to remember that when the white light is facing you, the controls are reversed...forward brings it closer, back will move it further away, right moves it to your left and left will move it to your right! Once you get used to that, you may never go back to headless mode, because it is so much more fun when you don't have to stay in one place! There are so many fun things you can do with this drone, and it is small enough to fly inside easily, so you don't have to worry about the weather. It will do flips in any direction, and the "Fast Rotation" button makes it spin in place quickly, either staying at the same height or you can move it up and down while it spins...A real crowd pleaser! Practice landing it (there is a one-touch landing button, or do it yourself) in tight spots, learn to fly it through and around table legs, or take it outside and kick up the speed for some racing fun! With the LED's, You can fly at night and easily keep it in sight. As they say, The sky's the limit! Now, let me say a word or two about the Holy Stone Customer Service Team...Fantastic people!! To be truthful, I did have an issue with the first one of these that I bought...the altitude hold function didn't work correctly, and I had some trouble controlling it. But an e-mail to the company brought a quick response, and after answering a few questions, a new one was on it's way! The new one is performing flawlessly, and I just ordered one for my niece for Christmas! Tip: Don't hesitate to contact these people! They are not only knowledgeable and helpful, They are also very friendly, and genuinely want you to be happy with your drone! I own several Holy Stone drones, and if something isn't quite right, or if I just have a question, I know I can count on everyone at Holy Stone to be there for me. (SPECIAL shout-out to TIFFANY and OLIVE; both have given me LOTS of time as I learned this new hobby!) I bought this for my younger kids for Christmas gifts. I was afraid of it being cheaply made and hard to control. We have purchased a different quad copter before(different brand) and could never get it to fly stable. It’s currently in its box on the top shelf collecting dust. After reading the reviews on this Holy Stone HS190...I thought of giving the drone world another chance. Having it fold nicely in the controller is a bonus...protecting it front accidental breaking from stepping on when left on the bedroom floor. Setting it up is easy. Just read the instructions a few times to get familiar with the buttons and sequence of control action to calibrate and unlock the drone. ALWAYS follow these sequences of controller actions to make your flying a flawless task. Once you fine tune the trim and get the controls down...this is one of the best toys to have in the home! It took about a couple of hours to get comfortable flying with no fear. The controls are tight and responsive and this thing can GO! The speed is incredible. Running into walls didn’t crash it, it actually corrected it self a few times. Occasional crashes done, but it didn’t break anything, maybe need to adjust the arm back out from it folding in when it crashed. I liked this so much, I had to buy one...my kids were getting upset that I was flying it more than them(hey, they were at school :-) )! I happened to find the same drone as a lightning deal and also had an additional coupon...making it $9.99. I’m currently charging it to fly it this evening. It looks like it’s fully charged...time to go fly!! Thank you for the awesome deal!

UPDATED: The company was kind enough to send me a similar but different drone for our troubles. We really appreciate the attentive customer service. I will be sure to review the new drone over there. Like I said, we really like their drones (except when they fly away) and they’re customer service is great and responsive! ORIGINAL REVIEW: We actually really like this drone, except for one MAJOR flaw, which I will get to in a minute. My son bought this to use for fun, he's 12. Everyone in the family has played around with it now and then. It's small, very responsive, and very easy to use. We love how the drone fits right in the controller, it keeps it safe. We've actually owned two of these drones, one was a replacement that the company sent after our issue with the first one. Both the original and the replacement flew away, without warning and without any apparent reason. They had been working completely normally prior. The first time it happened was about 2 weeks after he bought it, my son was flying it outside, in nice weather. He was flying it and suddenly ALL the controls stopped working and it FLEW AWAY AND DISAPPEARED! We live in a pretty rural area, so the drone flew up and over the woods and was completely gone. We had no way to go find it, although we assume it must have fallen at some point. My son was rightfully devastated since he spent his own money on it. The company was helpful and after many email exchanges they provided a replacement (although I had to ask for one). The second time it happened was 2 years later with the replacement drone. We didn't open the replacement box for over a year (because he was using his brother's old drone), so the replacement was used for maybe 9 months before it flew away. Same conditions, same prior working fine. This time the company wouldn't offer a replacement since it was outside the warranty, they offered 20% off a new one. We don't plan to buy a new one, so the discount is useless. So, we actually LOVE this little drone, but can't recommend it since we've had 2 of them disappear. It's kind of a waste of money... Maybe you won't have the same problem or maybe they've fixed the problem in the past year.

Read reviews and this seemed like a decent product. Saw the normal failed after several uses or wouldn't charge ETC. Decided I wanted to see if it could meet my needs. I want to use it to chase the squirrels away from our bird feeder. All I need is for it to turn on, make noise and rise up and I know that will chase the critters away. And I need to do this inside our house with the drone on the other side of the patio door. The stupid squirrel will hear the noise and see the motion and will dash away, but hunger will make it forget and return. So, all I need is to launch, hover and land and repeat as needed. Played with it 2 days in our spacious living room. It doesn't hover, but takes off at about 60degree incline, so I had to immediately rotate it and continue to rotate it to keep it away from walls. Played with the trim as much as possible but I just couldn't affect the flight. OH! and BTW it flies backwards all the time. W/o the ability to hover in place like 1 of the reviews showed, it's impossible to fly it. It's moving so fast I could barely keep it from running into the walls. Returned to Reviews and read "Out of box broken." review with picture showed 1 arm was crooked, and commenter stated looked like someone stepped on it. After careful inspection, mine too has a crooked arm. The arm is hard to bend and rubbery so it can't be formed by adjusting it. This is going back as defective from the factory. Another BTW. It's a design flaw that once it gets out of range of the controller it just keeps flying. Reviewer stated it took off and they never found it. Had I tried this outside I could have had the same issue. Where's the engineers that are supposed to be making things user friendly? This needs to go back to the drawing board.

Ease of Use: This drone is very easy to fly and use, even for a beginner. I had my mom, who had never flown anything before, fly this drone. She was able to keep it in the air and did not crash. She did bump the wall, but the included prop guards allow the drone to ride on the wall and not harm the drone or the paint. Packaging: This drone is packaged very well. It comes inside the box surrounded by plastic. I actually had a rough time getting this drone out of the packaging. Also, the drone fits very well inside the radio. Portability: This drone is very portable, and can be flown nearly anywhere indoors. The only downside to this drone's portability is that while, yes it fits in the radio very well, there is no casing for the radio to go into. If you feel comfortable carrying around the radio, then you can carry the drone. One thing to note is that the drone's foldable arms click and lock multiple times before they reach fully extended. Be careful when you try to extend the drone's arms and make sure that you don't try to push them the wrong way. Durability: This drone is very durable. Since I have had this and flown it, (I have probably flown it 10 times) I have had only a few crashes, and the ones that I have had do no damage. There is also rubber stoppers on the bottom of each motor that in the event of the drone being dropped, there is no damage. If you do crash, make sure that you kill the motors as per the manual. Quality of Materials: This drone's quality feels that of a $40 maybe even $50 drone. The radio feels like it is worth the price you pay. I would rather have most of the quality in the drone anyways, and that is where all the quality has been placed. Battery Life: This drone advertises 5 - 7 minutes of battery life. I find this to be correct. Charging time: This drone takes around 40 minutes to charge. Skill Level of Pilot: I would let anyone fly this drone, even someone who has never flown anything before, whether it be plane, heli, or quad. This drone is so easy and simple to fly that almost anyone could fly it. One other nice thing is that this drone's controls are very very similar to my larger drone also from Holy Stone. Indoor Flight: This drone flies its best indoors. It can do flips indoors as well. Outdoor Flight: Only an experienced pilot should fly this drone outside. This drone can be taken by the wind very easily. I would only recommend flying this drone outside on high speed so that you can fight the wind. Is this quad noisy? Some members of my family call this drone a bee. It does sound a-lot like a very large bee. This drone is not too loud, but I would not call it quiet. Box to Air Time: You can get this drone from the box into the air in under an hour, depending on how long the battery takes to charge (my battery came half full) Quality of features: The flip feature on this drone works great. Just make sure that once you press the right joystick down to enter flip mode, that you immediately move that joystick in the direction that you want it to flip. Two beeps sound, and if you make no action in these two beeps, your quad exits flip mode. The high speed rotation works well. Depending on which speed setting you are on depends on how fast the drone rotates as well as the overall speed of the drone. The speed switch works well. Top speed it VERY fast and I don't recommend using it at all, especially in a tighter indoor space. Auto Land: When this quad is low on battery, it lands its self. When it gets to a certain point, it won't flip anymore. Soon after, it will land. This feature works as it should. Downsides: This drone sometimes likes to drift. Using the trimmer reset function helps though. This drone has no camera, although that is not surprising for something this size. The trimmer buttons do not do much in my opinion. If the drone drifts, the drone trimmer reset works the best. Overall: If you are looking for a drone to learn on, just fly indoors, something to do on a rainy day, or to impress your friends with cool flips, then this drone is for you.

This drone is a lot of fun. Charges in about 35 or 40 minutes and flies for about 10 minutes. If you're new with drones I would suggest putting the propeller guards on. I really like the fly in circles option and the flips!
