Useful at home and abroad.
Bought to enlighten me about the trees around me when I go walking in the Peak District National Park and elsewhere. But I also was happy that I'd taken it along as holiday reading to Madeira. More than just a spotter guide to trees, well worth a read.

Great for Leaves!
It's a useful little book but not comprehensive enough if you really want to get to identify trees. Not enough information generally. But it IS great on leaves, with excellent pictures, which a lot of more detailed tree books don't have. So it's very useful as a "support book" I'd say.

Great for beginners. Clear and not too much information
For a beginner to tree-spotting like me, I needed something which clearly helps me to identify a tree without getting lost in detail. This is great. And good clear illustrations and descriptions of the main identifying points to look for.

A most excellent DK Books pocket tree guide
As a professional horticulturist my day to day has me exposed to dozens of plants of all shapes and sizes. Add to that my diverse horticultural background which has taken me from Hawaii, both hemispheres, the Mid-Atlantic & SE states as well as the Pacific Northwest and I have to admit the number of plants layered upon my memory is staggering. This handy tree reference is a fine piece of work. Yes, it is written for the British isles, but, with a modest amount of conversion, it has already begun to aid me in proper tree identification. True to the DK Books tradition of exceptional graphics, the color photos ring true while guiding me along my never ending journey of knowing the plants in my world. Concise in its descriptions, this is the perfect pocket companion for those passionate about their horticulture! A smart investment anyway you look at it.
